Is there a more pretentious hypocrite character than him?
He hated the wealthy for using their money and power to get ahead, yet that's all he did for the entirety of the series. What's worse is he did it in the name of "justice"
At least Axe and the rest of the billionaires knew what they were.

This was an entertaining but silly show. The characters were great cartoons performed by amazing actors. If I'd taken the show too seriously there's no way that I would've enjoyed it. The ridiculous amount of music industry deep cuts and bon mots alone are enough to tell you that it's not a commonsensical story.

Honestly, that's how I envision most political appointees.
All the show's characters were so over the top that nothing they did could be taken seriously, except maybe Chuck.

This was typical Showtime in my opinion
Billions, Homeland, Dexter, Shameless, Ray Donovan
All very popular at the outset/early, but by the end very few people I know were still watching as the series tend to move into greater and greater absurdity.

I enjoyed the show until Axe left but still watched the next season. But season 7 writing finally jumped the rails for me. It was one thing when a few characters were throwing out the pop culture / music similes but when virtually every single one started doing it that was too much and I bailed.
Edit: and agreed with the obvious about Rhoades being the most pretentious/hypocritical character in memory.

I could listen to Paul Giamatti read a phone book, so I always liked Chuck.

I always felt Chuck was the villain of the story. I hate how they ended the show. I did not like Prince, at all, but the way they did him in the end was so dumb. Axe's return could not save the last season.
I wanted to see Chuck go down, instead, we see Prince get screwed and Axe act completely out of character.

I've known a few men like his dad, they were great to hang with. And they all had hypocritical sons.

Wow I never thought about it but you’re 100% right.
Shameless. Dexter, Homeland, all appointment television for me until about halfway through their run. By the end they were unwatchable

Chinwag is a fun podcast. My favorite is the one with Paul Rudd.
