Halfway through season 2. I enjoy shows about "news stations' etc. Aniston sure does cry alot and is an emotional wreck and hard to work with. I wonder if that's what she's like in real life

Enjoyed the first season. Couldn’t get halfway through the second once the Covid storyline and random lesbian relationship started. Didn’t really care it went that way it was just so random and seemed lazy and stupid so I gave up.

I'll ask the most important question.

Does she get naked?

Same thing with us, we started the show about a month ago. We stopped a few episodes in on the 2nd season, felt like it lost it's way.

I'm assuming you've watched The Newsroom on HBO? One of the greatest shows of all time imo.

The Newsroom was good, but I wouldn’t go that far.

Sorkin can be a bit over the top at times.

Yeah. Just a bit.

Sorkin is the guy from South Park who smells his own farts.

I know I'm in the minority there. But I absolutely love The Newsroom. I'm a big West Wing fan as well but I actually like The Newsroom better.

I know it's not really the show for this board because it's a democratic news station but that didn't bother me at all, I just loved the way they covered the news. Felt very realistic and the characters and dialogue were just top tier.

I like The Morning Show but like most things they went too woke with the last season. Focused on black employees and BLM and how the corporate whites are all bad, etc.

Also had a storyline in Texas the reported on that went hard after republicans.

My main issue at the time - and it’s been years since I watched the show - was that the dialogue was too exact for me. Not even the briefest of pauses between characters during conversations full of overly witty retorts and quips. It just came off very unnatural to me, and I’ve worked with very highly intelligent people and no one really converses like that.

Also, they couldn’t shut up about Don Quixote.

Now you got me thinking about a rewatch soon. Think I might do it.

Yea very little pauses in between when it's office conversations. i always liked it. Maybe it's because I work in a room full of dummies, myself included, and I think "hey that's probably what smart people talk like".

Mac: I learned French to read Don Quixote in it's original language.

Will: Don Quixote was spanish.

Mac: Well that's a year of my life wasted

or something like that.

Will, Mac, Sloan, Don, and Charlie are all time characters for me. It's one of the shows I could probably rewatch yearly.

Do it! I for sure liked it better the second go around.

I enjoyed it. Watched the West Wing and the Newsroom in college. Liked both on first watch. After growing up and knowing more about politics and religion, the religious and conservative parts, specifically the 2 main characters (Josiah Bartlett and Will McAvoy), are clearly written by someone who doesn't understand those view points. Those characters are supposed to be religious (Bartlett) and moderately conservative (McAvoy) but do nothing but denigrate their own supposed world views.

Edit: The Morning Show season 1 was solid. It got bad after that.

Yea I mean Sorkin is clearly a democrat and probably not religious. He uses having Will as a registered Republican as a way to kind of say "No it's not a leaning left show because our main character is a Republican."

But I feel like both shows did a good job of not focusing on being negative to the other party. In West Wing the Republican he ran against was a very likeable character and good guy, and his Republican VP was made out to be a good guy/character. They also essentially admitted that they didn't accomplish anything they wanted to in his first 4 years in office. The Newsroom focused much more on the stories than the politics. BP oil spill, election nights, bin Ladens death, etc.

Shows that date themselves (covid being the worst example) is one of my biggest pet peeves in television.

That's the case with a lot of people. I did the same thing. It wasn't because of the Covid storyline, just the overall story and characters were a little stale for me. Try The Newsroom or Sports Night if you haven't. Similar format but better writing and more interesting characters.
