I am befuddled that a state who produces the best Congressman in the US in Thomas Massie could also produce Mitch McConnell (from Louisville) and that limp wristed Governor (from Louisville). Is the problem Louisville or “Tel Aviv on the Ohio” as it is also referred to? I know the last 2 GOP Gubernatorial candidates were severely flawed, but cmon!

Well a congressman is from an isolate area of the state that could be distinctly different than the whole state.

A better comparison would be to use their common senator, Rand Paul.

Soy boys in Lexington vote D. Always have, always will. I keep saying Beshear is going to make a run in 2028. The unions absolutely love him.

Why would Kentucky elect a governor like this? Your Senator is Rand Paul. Night and day differences!

I still don’t understand how Beshear was elected

KY is a weird state. They mostly vote D for Gov and R for President.

Because we’re given 2 options, and the majority decided AB was the better choice.

Didn't Mississippi do the same until the mid-2000s?

Yes. Most of your local races even in conservative rural areas would have people running for things like county supervisor registering as democrats

The Beshears are for Kentucky what the Bush’s are for Texas. His dad was governor I believe.

Plus the guy he beat to become governor said that teachers on strike were responsible for kids being abused at home because they weren’t in school. Had he not said that, Beshear probably doesn’t get elected. Matt Bevin is a colossal moron

People voted Beshear for governor and then a straight republican ticket after. Makes no sense.

I never felt like Cameron(Beshears challenger) wanted the job. He wants McConnells senate seat.

I’ve also had the privilege to be able to vote for Massie and Paul the last several elections. I’m lucky in that regard.

Jefferson and Fayette County.

Louisville and Lexington.

Andy will be the last D governor for a while.

Bevin would have gotten re-elected if he would have shut up about teacher’s causing kids to get shot.

Louisville is a shitehole city. It's like someone dug up a part of Chicago and moved it.

Why did Andy win? Short version is that the prior (R) governor went to bat against the teachers and lost big time - Andy then came in as their savior and was able to pull in a lot of rural family+teacher votes as a result.

Louisville is the blue dot in a red state - akin to Austin

He claims to be a moderate governor but he’s really just a new face of the same old blue machine his dad ran - says the right things to sound moderate then falls in line with D on policy 95% of the time - the points at the 5%

Maybe research the other candidate who lost, as an incumbent, to AB 5 years ago? We don’t think collectively like democrats do. It’s a nice, independent feeling to go to the poll and vote for the candidate of your choice. Albeit, there are only 2 choices, which is dumb; but if the Repubs want to take that seat in KY, don’t send us just any douche, slap an R next to their name and expect us to bend the knee.

The eastern KY coal mining areas are pretty heavily Dem as well thanks to the UMW. Get up in those hills and hollers and you'll find more than a few life-long Dems who simply will not give an ear to reason or logic.
