I’m buying a washing machine off Facebook marketplace. It’s located on Susie Circle North. I looked on Google Earth, and it seems that the neighborhood is a bunch of mobile homes. It looks fairly neat, but my question is, is that neighborhood relatively safe? I’ll have my brother with me to pick it up.

Buy a new one off the floor at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Guys on H&G board say that buying one new these days isn’t the best option. You’ll get just as much use, if not more, going used.

Only if it is a Speed Queen. There are specific rules that you have to follow.

I don't live there, but I lived 6 or 7 miles away for 15 years. I currently reside in Madisonville.

However, yes, it is safe.

All of those flower streets to the East are a known drug area. I would certainly not go after dark.

Outside of Eastover or MLK (formerly Rodeo Drive) I wouldn't worry too much about going anywhere around there during the day.

You will be fine. As poster above mentioned , the flower streets are rough, but more methy than “thuggish”, so you should be fine,

Just for a warning… some of the places there are junk, some are kept up.

I bought a washing machine off craigslist from a chick in Denham. It worked well and she ended up being a dirty little cumslut.

Only you could provide information like this. Glad it was a female.

This is the real reason I started the thread. I’m not sure if the downvote folks understand that getting as much information as I can about an unknown can be beneficial. The actual address looks ok on Google Earth.

H&G also says you must buy Speed Queen, Bosch dishwashers, and 30 Second Cleaner for all outdoor cleaning purposes. All are fine options. Just do not buy a Samsung appliance. Ours all went bad. Parents had ones go bad. They are terrible with anything that has to do with water.

The problem with a used one right now is it probably will crap out on you faster. At least you can take a gamble on a new one and now and get a few years guarantees out of it. Feels like all new appliances have a built in timer and after a year, that timer ends and they all start to go to shite. We have had good luck so far with our LG Tower. It has both a washer and dryer that is about the height of a traditional set of stacked units.

But really, floor models will run you about half price if you are okay with the scratches on them.

This is GE. $150 vs. $450-550 is worth a little gamble for me.

My neighbors bought a washer and dryer set from Home Depot. They needed a new washer and dryer because theirs were destroyed by the flood. They wanted a machine that had all of the so called extras. Home Depot had only one dryer and washer left in the store. It was a very cheap combo that didn't have the extras they were looking for. Since they were desperate, they took the cheap set. The wife noticed how much cleaner her clothes were when she washed them the first time. She said that she likes the cheap washer much better than her Whirlpool that was destroyed. Her cheap set is an Amana. I think that a well known company makes that brand.

Pics of everything? Honestly that's not a terrible price. You can replace a belt and heating element in the future and still come out on top for another year or two if no major components are out.
