Just had a 7mm kidney stone removed with a basket, several others crushed with a laser (Round 2 of that) and a stent removal.
Feels like I'm pissing razor blades and acid. It could have been worse though: I'm glad I didn't have the kind of stent they remove in the doctor's office by pulling it out with a string sans anesthesia.

You had that stent. They just removed the strings prior to placement in your affected ureter.

Drinking water is good but depending on the type of stone, that may not be enough. You'll want to get with your doc to see what kind it is.
I passed a kidney stone the week before my gallbladder surgery, so that was extra fun.

I'm just happy they didn't have to put another one in.

I probably don't drink more than a soda or 2 a month. Sweet tea, and not enough water, is apparently the culprit

I don't drink soda unless it has cheap whiskey in it though

I’ve had about 20. All kinds of reasons to get them and they knock you to your knees.

They gave me the option for a Stent. I said no thanks. The doctor said good choice.

Eating a lot of high oxalate foods can potentially do it as well. So spinach, soy, almonds, etc.

Yeah, apparently black tea is high in oxalates, too. Apparently, taking in calcium with the oxylates helps negate their ability to form stones.

You'd definitely think there'd be something better and more merciful
