I don't know of any place that can beat the quality, quantity and price of the Westwego Seafood Lot.
The wife and I got 15 lbs. of 11-16's from there 3 weeks ago and they were $2.75 a lb.
We had just come from Winn-Dixie that was advertising "Large Shrimp @ $3.99 a lb." and I only wanted 5 lbs. to boil so thought I'd get them there.
Well, their idea of large shrimp is WAY different than mine since they were 26/30's at best, so off to Westwego we went.

Lafitte. Drive by the boats. Look for signs.

Loved going there and laughed at the signs saying, "Cheaper than the other side." Then when you go across the lot to the other side, their signs said, "Much cheaper than the other side!" LOL

You will only likely find negligible differences in pricing. Find a stand you like over there and stick with it, and they will tend to do you right. I typically use Amy's and they pretty much always do me right, but most places there will do similarly.

Do yall buy fresh, never frozen live shrimp?

Got some beautiful 13-15’s from B&J (Hammond) last weekend. $3.50/#, $2.99 if 10# or more. She said had had gotten up at 3 AM to drive to the dock in Venice. They sell them cheaper than I can buy them beside the road coming back from Grand Isle

Why yes we do. Often straight from the shrimper themselves

That's awesome.
Getting some live Maine lobster on Sunday, but would love fresh shrimp

Generally we buy fresh never frozen shrimp often from the shrimper but they are not live like crawfish or lobster.

I prefer fresh so I'll buy them when shrimp season is going on because I will use some and the rest I'll put in the freezer for later use.
If I'm buying out of season, I have no issue with IQF shrimp, but in that case I'll buy just enough for use and not for freezing.
IQF's are pretty easy to spot at the seller. Their long feelers on the head are almost always broken off by the head from the freezing process. If fresh, those feelers are very prevalent.
