Bioware will be shut down after this. Its not even in doubt.

A shitty looking sequel no one asked for it to be the way it is gets the EA special: 23 deluxe-exclusive cosmetics, 2 editions that don't include the game, pre-order armor, and 3 artbook editions alone

Did they use Fortnite models?

Graphically looks like shite.

The models look so dated. It could probably be forgiven if the game was going to be as good as DA: Origins, but I seriously doubt it will even hold up to Inquisition or DA: 2.

Maybe once Bioware is shut down Larian can get their hands on the IP and we'll get another good DA game.

Wasn't SBI involved in this game?

I doubt SBI was but it’s a certainty any of the other number of race grifter consultants was.

Meh, it’s certainly not graphically amazing, but I’m not sure I understand the hate. It looks fine for a BioWare game. We’ve never played them for their graphics. If the game can deliver on the story, world building, and interpersonal relationships, all graphical flaws will be forgiven. If it can’t… well, that’s a different issue entirely.

I cant speak for anyone else but me personality I play dragon age for the uniquely bleak as hell tone, not for rip off fortnight characters and bright color pallets. I play it for the tactics combat and being able to control my companions not what appears to be the most mediocre action combat game ever with no control of them. Again if they just made this and titled it "Generic diverse action slop game #4056" no one would notice. Its because theyre fricking up dragon age. At least thats my perspective.

I don't hate the game. Probably going to buy it.

I am saying the models look like cartoony Fortnite models. Looks like an out of place change in tone.

Makes the game look like shite, graphically.

All of this.

You'd get major tonal whiplash going from DA Origins to this. I understand DA:O style combat/gameplay in AAA games has gone the way of the dodo (save for extreme anomalies like BG3) but this just seems so sterile and streamlined in a bad way

I'll probably get it on sale since I really liked Solas and the twist from Inquisition. Wanna see where it goes

I completely understand. I’m more of a Mass Effect fan than I am a DA fan, so I don’t necessarily share your priorities, but I understand them.

No way this turns out to be good. Modern BioWare can’t make good games

If you must switch to an action based combat system something like the combat style they use in the remakes of FF7 would fit well here I believe with a bit of tweaking to fit dragon age. You get your action combat, you still can switch to and control any party member at any time or give them orders, and opening the menu slows time massively for tactical play

I think they likely can, but they drank their own koolaid for so long that they haven’t for a while. There’s no doubt in my mind that they understand why their recent games have failed, if for no other reason than hundreds of thousands of words have likely been written on the subject. I also think they understand that if the next DA and/or ME games flop, they are absolutely done.

Whether they pull it off is a separate issue.

No one who made their games that made them a beloved studio is there any longer. That talent is gone. I have zero faith they pull this off and it’ll be the end of them for sure.

I know that, but I also don’t believe those people are unique on the planet. I further think that BioWare now either knows or should know that “BioWare magic” isn’t real. Either BW spent the last few years finding new world building/story/relationship talent, or they didn’t. If they did and gave them the space to cook, it will probably be fine. If they didn’t, pretty graphics wouldn’t save them.

It’s possible. Even if the story is fairly good I still don’t believe it will be well received long time fans of the series. It’s simply not a dragon age game. I understand you sometimes have to change things to suit what the mass market is more into at the time but you have to maintain the spirit of the game when you do that. I used this example above but ff7 remake and rebirth did this incredibly well

It’s the same thing BW did with Mass Effect. Every game iteration made gameplay more like CoD. Did that make longtime fans happy? Nope. Did we mostly just deal with it because the characters and story were still solid? Yep.

Andromeda is almost universally considered to have the best combat/gameplay of the ME series, yet it’s almost universally considered to be the worst ME game because the story and characters sucked arse.

I have only played the mass effect games 1,2,3 once and never did andromeda so I can’t speak to that really. It’s possible you could be right. I don’t want another studio to be shuttered because no one should be in doubt if this flops that will happen. To my knowledge the mass effect trilogy kept a pretty consistent tone and through line the whole trilogy. You my not sure this is an exact comparison I it would be like if they decided to make mass effect 3 way more light hearted with a much more mass appeal live service like color pallet
