Yeah it’s 3* and 4* and yes 5** Stewart in 2026 is key. But you got to stack guys at that spot. Odds are one of those guys will out play his * rating and others will be key depth pieces. And we aren’t paying Bo Davis only to recruit. He’s considered one of if not the top DT coaches in the country.
The problem the 3 years prior was we essentially took no high school DTs and doubled down on the mistake by not having a good DT coach and 1 year because of illness, no DT coach. We are essentially 3 years behind at the position, Davis’s work rebuilding the room is impressive.

Scholarships are 105 now. You take as many developmental guys as you can in positions of need.

Hopefully with Bo he can hit on 2-3 of those guys and develop them into very good players.

Good post. It was odd that we brought in so few DTs for a couple of years. This class is the base for getting us back.

The focus on the trenches on both sides of the ball is encouraging. This class has a nice combination of big uglies and skill guys.

Just to be clear, I consider all the DT commits to be legit. In other words, consider them to be 85 scholarship guys, not 105 guys. I think of 105 guys being undersized or heavy heavy developmental guys.

Solid post!

I know we are in the immediate gratification era, but in 2 years time this Dline is going to be really really good. It will be fun to watch these guys develop.

Absolutely. 2026 in LA has i think 3 highly rated defensive lineman (4 if you include Brown, who plays both ways) so these next 2 years are huge

Zion Williams has already had one huge ratings boost. Word in the recruiting circles is with a really good senior year, you could see him being top 3-4 at his position.

The stereotypical positions in many of those extra 20 spots are going to be OL and DT, the most "size" dependent positions who need an extra year to lift smart and eat right.

It’s just a damn shame that the DT room is so weak for 2024. It could be the very thing that derails the season for us. With a top 50 defense I really think this 2024 team could compete for a national title.

Hopefully the guys we have this year can shock the world

That’s how desperate we are for bodies. But one thing about Bo is that’s he’s got the teaching under rated prospects and getting them to an elite level

Everybody is now a development guy. These new guys in the 105 cap are the ones that you will need to plug portal gaps and I believe they will be a little more stable initially with respect to roster commitment. These guys will have the opportunity to outplay their star rating and watch players in front of them on the depth chart jump in the portal and wah lah… they are a star!

Still don’t think they’ll have 105 guys on scholarship, maybe 90-95.

Kelly already said he’s not just gonna offer a kid because he has the scholarships if he feels he can’t play on this level

I would think closer to that 100 number, leaving a few spots to give WalkOns.
I've seen a few times, LSU waiting on signing day, for a player to back out. Only to have a player waiting for LSU to call them with a scholarship.

On this years roster, we have 113 players listed scholarship and WalkOns. So odds are, we might get close to that number. Roster management will again come into play.

I'm not sure they'll shock the world, but I think they'll be surprisingly adequate

I know he developed a 3* Recruit into winning the ‘23 Outland Trophy & being a 1st Round draft choice so BO KNOWS!!
