I think he will piece it together and find a way to be middle of the pack. If Nuss can be top 5 in the SEC that will be good enough.
What I’m hoping is that he creates more turnovers and big plays with stunts and we are top 3rd in the SEC in turnover margin.

If we can go from being consistent 105th ranked trash to being an inconsistent Top 50 defense, I will be happy.

People forget that he led Missouri to a top 20 defense with less talent than even the current personnel we have currently in defense. Missouri had/has no defensive player with the talent of Perkins, Womack, or even Spears.

Not wrong. However he did shut down the Tennessee offense that was top 10 overall and #1 in rushing.

lol. USC is not dropping 40+. Maybe 30. While their QB and WR room are good, the RB room is average at best (starting Moo State’s starter from last year whom even our terrible defense shut down) and their offensive line outside of their LT is pretty bad.

We need some leaders to step up who are willing to make each other do their jobs and play within the defense. We haven’t had that. Tbh Burns being the veteran leader of this defense with how he selfishly celebrates arm tackles on a 15 yard gain doesn’t exactly give me the warm and fuzzies.
Baker made a comment about stopping the guys throwing their hands up when getting beat deep. Happy to hear that. The defense has done way too much finger pointing on blown coverages over the last couple years.

I don’t doubt that we will be much improved by the middle/end of the season. I do worry about how good we’ll be in game 1 with an entirely new staff though. These 3 weeks can’t go by fast enough
