Mulkey said it best recently. The question was what has surprised you the most when you came to LSU. She said how much of Global Brand LSU was. Or something like that.

If only we could translate some of this athletic success and global cache to reinvest in the school - reopen programs they’ve shut down in recent years, better pay for professors, career services, glory holes at Middleton.

I can tell you as someone who has been around the University for decades and who had Shaq in my class there has never been anything remotely like this in the history of the school. Our brand was regional at best. Now it’s international. Your list totally misses the media presence too,- the amount of media personalities and so forth.

Not only does LSU have famous and well-known athletes on its resume, it has athletes spread across a variety of sports..

But the point is taken. This is the argument defending the pay of coaches etc. I think that it is happening just not as fast as it was to close resources or as fast as we believe it should show up in other ways on campus.
