I have 3 dead trees close to the house. Been dreading getting quotes. Young Hispanic man approached me a week ago claiming he’d bring all three down for 1700$. Sounded like a steal. When asked if he had insurance, he hesitated then said yes, non-convincingly. He said he will be sending picture of his insurance to me when he gets home. Should I trust it?

He obviously does not have insurance. If he falls out of the tree or the tree falls on someone else, you’re going to be sued.

You're thinking about hiring a guy with a truck and a chainsaw to take 'er down?

I am. Full disclosure, the guy works for Demco vegetation crew, that’s how he knew about my trees. Claims he has insurance. What happens if I just claim I believed him? Really don’t wanna spend 8k on these damn trees.

You both get sued, he’s insolvent or disappears, you’re left with a judgment.

The power line crew guys are legit. Except you have to haul off your own crap. They can’t bring the chipper trucks with them

They stack cash and haul arse back to Mexico until the next pre-hurricane season.

Let them handle it and save your cash.

Can’t you just ask for proof of insurance? Is this that difficult?
