Let their universities train them.

Or maybe time for our coaches to train American athletes
Bowman's sticking around Marchand bc the US doesn't have anyone close to him at the moment

What's in it for the colleges to turn those athletes away?
Stop being dumb because your feelings are hurt that USA isn't winning everything.

Yes! The U.S. should ban immigration of all foreign athletes who come to our country, pay U.S. university tuition, pay U.S. trainers, pay U.S. training clubs and facilities to rent, rent apartments from U.S. landlords, and just generally live an American life because we lose a few Olympic events over two weeks of a summer every four years!

Universities overseas are not sports factories like American Universities nor do they pay students to kick the Soccer ball or run around a track.
The American University is unique among the world in tying world class sports with Academia.
If a foreign athlete's home country's State won't foot the bill to train them, their best option is for American Universities to train them for free in the guise of being a student.

Universities benefit year round from them. Their countries benefit every four years

But...do you like them when foreign students are winning for University over your rival school?

If they're good enough to compete for the big time U.S. schools in their respective sport they aren't paying tuition or rent. That's included in the scholarships (with the exception being a partial scholarship). As far as trainers, clubs and facilities; I'm assuming you're talking about in the off season. In my experience, that's usually been taken care of by the university.
TLDR: The good ones aren't paying for any of that.

Eh.
Instead let’s stop pretending the Olympics is about countries at all.
It’s just a big extravaganza for professional athletes to make a lot of money.

Make them sign a contract that they have to try out for the US team first. If they qualify, they must compete for the US. If they don’t, they can go compete for their home country.

Fair point, that makes sense! In relation to OP though, my take is that U.S. being the world’s training ground for athletes (that can afford it or get sponsored) is still a net economic and cultural positive for the U.S. at the expense of a few Olympic medals every few years.

My line is revenue sharing. I understand sharing some of the revenue with athletes from sports that actually produce revenue.
However, I draw the line at sharing revenue from athletic departments with all the sports that don’t actually produce any revenue, especially if half of those athletes are foreign.

Up until the nli changes and expansion of scholarship limits, outside of basketball, every Olympic sport offered by the ncaa was an equivalency sport, aka partial scholarships. Men's swim teams got a whopping 9.9 scholarships to give out. That spreads real thin between 20+ guys and 3-5 divers. The ncaa champion on my team wasn't even getting a full ride type story, and we were barely top 20 then.
My buddy swam at auburn, on a team that 3peated. Was top 20/25 in the world in his event, not the fastest on his team. Back then auburn was qualifying more athletes for NCAAs than they allowed you to take to the meet. I believe that was an 18 athlete roster max. 9.9 scholarships spreads extra thin with rosters like that. Meaning, this comment is not even remotely correct when looking at the top ncaa teams.

You could’ve saved yourself a lot of typing. I understand how swimming works since I swam in the SEC. My point still stands and is accurate when talking about the women’s side which makes up a significant part of foreign olympians. Many of them are getting a full ride.
Also, good job on cherry picking and not looking at my entire comment. You think your buddy at auburn had to pay training expenses during the off season?

Eh, it's more a big extrvaganza so the IOC can fleece money from other countries and companies.

Tell American Universities and fans to stop caring about Collegiate championships then.... .otherwise they're gonna recruit professionals worldwide and give foreigners their Xanada to train rent free as long as we care about NCAA hardware.
