Crimson Wraith posted this on the forbidden forum earlier:

Odds are, by next week, our country will be THIRTY-FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS in debt.

Trillions.

35 of 'em.

Those are toddler numbers.

Most people can't fathom how big of a number 1 trillion is so here's something to put it into perspective, 1 trillion seconds is equal to 31,709.79 calendar years. That means if we paid $1.00 every second to pay off the national debt, it would take 1,109,842.72 years. Good Googly Moogly that's a lot of money.

That's insane. And we have THIRTY-FIVE of them next week.

We are fricked. There ain't no way round it.

We are totally fricked.

And our woes will have come from Washington DC, and Washington DC alone.

I watched a YouTube video representing how much that is and i think about it all the time

A trillion dollars is what it takes to fill an Empire State Building in 100’s

Now make that 35 Empire State buildings worth of debt

Print 40 individual trillion dollar coins, deposit them into the country’s bank account, then BAM! We’re back in black, baby!!

Not long ago I heard a projection, that our debt would increase by about $1T every 120 days.
More perspective on how much a trillion is:
If you owned a trillion dollars and spent $1,000,000 each day, it would take you just under 2,740 years to spend it all.
A million seconds is 12 days.
A billion seconds is 31 years.
A trillion seconds is 31,688 years.

One million seconds is about 11 days.

One billion seconds is roughly 31.5 years.

One trillion seconds is equal to about 31,710 years.

If Melie can do it in Argentina, we can do it here. It just takes something that we don’t have here: political will to do what’s right because it’s hard and unpopular.

Each time we go more in debt by printing, or keeping interest rates below inflation, or bailouts, stimy checks, etc

We make each dollar worth ‘less’ so it takes more to buy things.

So, stocks should go up in nominal price but not value. So does the cost of everything else.

Politicians love deficit spending - on their projects. Hate it on other projects. Citizens should hate it across the board.

If only those rich assholes would pay their “fair share” we wouldn’t be $35 trillion dollars in debt!

Ive said it for years: there’s no one at the wheel.

We have “renters” who are given a few years in charge and do not suffer any consequences of their decisions after those years.

We need someone in charge that has a very large stake in the future of the country. The incentive of monarchs of the past to be good leaders was to pass on a kingdom that was financially and physically sound to their heirs.

Is it possible to replicate an incentive of that magnitude in our current system? I haven’t been able to think of a way yet.

Insane. I think it's the biggest issue we face and neither party wants to do anything to fix it.
