First off the the WII sucks. It's fun for the first 20 minutes and that's it plus there are no fun games. You would have to be 13 or younger to enjoy it. How are the still selling out.

Because it's cheap, and people like gadgets

because the typical range for gamers is between 14 and 25...but

...the wii is easy enough for a 4 year old plus they are using

them in nursing homes to keep older people active...it is

the first game system to destroy the age groups and allow EVERYONE

to play and enjoy except the small percent of the population

that are serious gamers!!!

The reason the Wii is doing well is because girls can play it.

Girls + kids + old people

Basically all of the people who don't play PS3/360

And the fact that all those lazy fatasses who won't actually go work out can now play a video game to try and get in shape.

I think that's only a small portion of owners, especially since no one can find a wii fit anywhere

WRONG... The average gamer these days is a 30-35 yr old.

The Wii is successful because non-gaming people are not afraid of the controllers like they are with the 360 and PS3

I agree, but people love it, my sister who is in her mid 30's want the wii for wii fit, and they don't even have cable.

for me the wii is just for little kids, the graphics don't even come close to the 360 and ps3.

The first time I played it, I thought it was awesome, I was playing golf, and I was taking real golf swings, then my buddy that owned the wii told me that I could get a better swing if I just sit down and flick my wrist. WTF!!!

that right there, made the wii pointless to me.

I'd guess none of you have played Twilight Princess.

People assume the Wii is for children because most of the games are cartoony, they're also too ignorant to realize even cartoony games can be fun.

Either that or they have no friends to play Wii with.

And FWIW, I own all three systems.

I gotta agree with that. Fun is fun, no matter what age you are. Mario is probably the best example of that.

I really do want to have fun, but some of the games just are not hard enough. I've been playing Super Paper Mario and I feel like if I'd had this at 8 it would have been so badass, but not now. Is it just my imagination that games like Super Mario 3 were a lot harder?

Also I'd rather play Legend of Zelda on NES than Twilight Princess. For some reason I really can't get into the new Zelda games

i have this and i started out liking it but midway i started getting hte same feeling i had playing windwaker. It was something like "when did zelda get a bad case of the gay". Nintendo has seriously ruined zelda since the Windwaker. (9 hours of a sailboat ride and 6 minutes of an actual game)

The wii fit is very overrated.

The wii is okay, it has a few games that with a certain "gadget controller" are fun.

i think it has to do with the controllers and how anyone can play.

I didn't think this was remotely true, but I'm shocked to see that you are correct.

I know, obviously, that 30+ people are playing WAY more video games than in the past, but still wouldn't have thought that.

That being said, i have a feeling the average age of Wii players is somewhat younger.

Think about it... The 35 yr old group is the first group to grow up playing video games. That group now has lots of disposable income, and is not going to suddenly stop playing games. The average gamer age is only going to go up.

It may "suck" as a serious gaming platform, but for parties and family get togethers nothing else can compare simply because everyone can play. This past Christmas my nephew played my grand mother in golf, and we had basically a huge tournament in Mario Kart.

The only game I've ever sat down and played on my own since I got it was Twilight Princess, but it's great with friends.

Sony cut the prices so low on the PS3 that initially they were losing $200 a console...also early reports of console failures and the initial high cost...alsothe loss of multiple console exclusives have hurt the ps3 severely

Other systems are geared to the more harecore gamers.

Anyone can pick up a WII and enjoy it. My kids love it. My wife likes WII fit. Makes getting in shape a game. I can live with the WII.
