So after spending a week on the game and recruiting 2 classes I have some things to discuss.

My first year as OC at App State I was able to grab a fair class but at the end of the day it did not matter as I bolted for FSU when they offered me the OC job.

My first class with FSU ended up being the #3 class. I made a lot of errors that I am trying to fix going into year #2 at FSU in the same OC position.

Some of my tips so far.

Fill up the board with 35 guys and offer scholarships to them all and then immediately scout as many of them as you can.

If I recruit a 5 star that ends up as a "bust", I do not immediately write them off

If I recruit a 4 star that ends up as a bust, I tend to move on from them

In year 1 at FSU a lot of my visit weeks were near the end of the season because that's when my big games and rivalries were. This is a problem. Visits are very important and many of my targets had already signed by the time those game rolled around.

For year 2 I moved my Florida-FSU game to week 3. I was able to get enough information and unlock the option for about 5-6 guys. I think the max that can visit is 4. Its a bit of a risk to have a big game this early as you have to be down to top 5 to unlock the "visit". You then also need to have atleast one of his pitch likes known.

So how do you do this. The recruiting meter/bar gives you an idea how close a guy is to Top8, 5, 3.... Those guys that are close you need to be sending the house to get as much information on them as you can so you can do an early visit.

Hard and Soft Pitches.

I rarely use a soft pitch. If you can get two parts of the pitch unlocked you can usually use trial and error to get the final one, but be forewarned this is not a guarantee as there is some crossover between pitches.

So when do I use a soft pitch? If I already know what their ideal pitch will be I use hard pitch. I only use soft pitch for a secondary pitch that I am able to create/discover with the SWAY option.

I use the sway option to try and create a second ideal pitch. If it is successful I will then use the Hard and Soft Pitches for the two ideal pitches (but only if I have the availability for 60 hours for a recruit)

When do I back off a guy. I tend to stop caring about a guy if they are a 4 star or less and show a "bust". I won't back off 5 star "busts"

I also will back off of a guy if within the first few weeks I am not in the top 3. Its just too much you have to put into those guys.

Some other things I do. If it looks like I am massively ahead on a recruit, I will only search Social media or DM them to conserve time for guys I am not as far ahead.

Pipeline is important, So I tend to elect Florida guys over everything else.

I do like that it also shows us our needs so I don't get wide eyed at all the flashy 5 star QBs and receivers and end up with a team of 30 WRs and 10 QBs.

I know this is a wall of text but feel free to add your insights.

I’ll just say I love how in the weeds and technical this game is about football in all facets on and off field (contingent you’re playing on heisman) it took this many words for just recruiting

I’m loving the game. UGA is a bit overturned though. They feel like playing on god mode.

I'm wrapping up year 4 at Boise State. I chose the recruiter archetype and have maxed out all the tier 1 skills. That being said here is what I do to sign the #2 overall class last year and currently the #1 class.

Fill my board with mainly guys that have interest in me but save 5-10 spots for the top overall recruits.

I then scout everyone as much as I can and the only people I immediately write off/don't offer are 3 star busts. 4 star busts I will keep but hold off on the scholarship depending on what else I am doing at the position.

Week 1 I go through my board and see if my scholarship got me in the game with the "non-interested" recruits. If not, I drop them. I throw the most hours at the highest rated players at positions of need and stay on them until they are ready for a visit which I will schedule ASAP.

As soon as I am able to hard sell/soft sell I do that as well. I try to line up my A/B ratings with their interests but I'm not shy to pitch if they have an X on the topic.

After I have the bulk of my class and have hours to spend I make sure my needs are being met but then I start chasing big fish. Offer them and send the house usually gets me in the game and then I repeat the above process.

Yes... sorry for the wall of text but it kind of requires it.

I just wish that it was like the old games where I could do the recruiting on the internet

instead of doing a hard/soft on an "X" try to do a sway instead. I you have atleast 2 green's then you can sway them pretty effectively

I may have missed this but I do wish they had a depth chart on recruiting.

If I’m recruiting a TE I’d like to quickly see my current TE depth chart

Have we officially concluded that Send The House gives you more influence than Contact Family + DM Recruit + Search SM ??

I move off all busts personally. Since it has their rank as a recruit in the system I assume that probably plays into how future recruits feel about playing time/your depth chart. The 4 star might be as good or better than the 5 star "bust" but shouldn't ding you as bad on the PT sell.

I start with 17-25 guys, scout them all, make offers as necessary, then recruit and see how things are progressing. If I'm way behind a school and its moving quickly I just remove them from the board. as people commit to either me or other schools I add guys. I try to find and scout guys I'm first or second for after that initial board makeup to try to get some quick wins if I'm good with their attributes.

we are a back to back to back national championship program so the recruiting is basically doing itself at this point.

When I started off as a g5 OC, I always tired to get the best QB and WR I could, and not really worry about the rest because I knew I was going to leave soon enough.

Thinking about leaving my current team (in disgrace, in my head) and taking the worst HC job I can get.

I signed a 4 star bust who ended up having Star development. Have only played 1 season but seems like he'll end up being really good with Star dev

Great pointers @The Eric

I keep hearing about the send the house on the no offer kids, the new low lock cheese that was from NCAA14 essentially.

Wish I could find good recruiting tutorials on Youtube without the person using a top program though, im more of a visual learner

The AI is crazy good in this game. Teams adjust to you from game to game. I’ll give an example.

My very first time playing obviously I did a dynasty with GA. I beat Alabama 31-17 abusing a certain run scheme their line side is weak on and abused Delp on 15 yard outs he had 12 catches (it helps Beck is the best QB in the game.) I went in with the same gameplan against Texas and they shut Ettiene and Delp absolutely down forcing me to go to outside receivers on the road at Texas and lost 24-14

Yea the AI adjust for sure. In the first regular season with us e a jet sweep or deep shot worked. Now defenses spread wide on me and cover deep.

They also adjusted to me running corner routes.

Is everyone still just playing on standard heisman or implemented any sliders yet? The standard mode plays better than any I ever remember doing butt it could still be refined.

The guys on operation sports are cooking but I like to take my time usually at the line with UGA so I moved quarter length to 7 min from 5, turned some of the defensive sliders up a bit certain penalty sliders up a bit and qb accuracy and whatever the one that deals with speed difference down a bit. Experimenting and I like it better than standard. Idk if the QB one would be necessary for most though Beck is just way too good in this game like he shouldnt be as good as he is. If anyone is curious ill post exactly what I changed.
