Last 3 years we’ve lost states highest rated Safeties and CB’s to out of state school…
Hoping Raymond can turn this thing around per IN-STATE defensive backs !!

This year we’re bringing in an out of state guy that is rated higher than everyone else

What are you crying about now?
2024 Deshawn Spears was the highest-rated DB (safety) and he committed to LSU. Hell, they got 10 of the top 11 Louisiana players on ON3 including 2 safeties and a CB.
This recruiting season (2025) we missed on Jaboree, for now. But we got a higher-rated CB in Pickett.
Unless you are talking about getting the highest rated of each, then the last time that happened was 2010 and one of those two never made it to campus.

I'll trade Antoine for Pickett even though that's not what happened.
Just replace Antoine with a similar player.
The problems arise when you don't get a comparable player.

And then everyone will lose their mind if he turns into Eli Ricks. I don't really care where they are from as long as we are bringing in top 5 recruiting classes and winning football games. I'm just saying it goes both ways.

This is the part of the recruiting board I love. Speaking the truth is crying. Have to love it. Let me know when Pickett can cover both sides of the field and the slot. Not many successful teams play with 1 CB. We have a disaster of a CB room and need 3 maybe 4 in this class that at one time had a wish list of Brew, Pickett, Antoine and Phillips. Now it's Pickett, Anding and player to be named later or counting on flips. That's some world class cope. Keep moving the goalposts of sunshine.
Ive spoken my opinion on Antoine. He's a good prospect but not sure a good CB. Doesn't change the fact that 3 years running the top DB on the board in LA has left the state(rank and top of the board are 2 entirely different things; goalposts again). For a program dependent on the state as much as we are, coupled with a fanbase so very full of state pride, that's a problem. One that sunshine folks like to gloss over while casting aspersions at others. Do we get to rescind the Raymond apology threads now? Or call halfsies? Only got half the job done. Or do only the wins count? Strange since the losses are what have our CB room looking like it does. Sometimes it really is about who you don't get.
Pardon while I wipe my tears. Some of us live in the moment and express our concerns in real time. Others choose to wait things out and save their concern until it's too late to fix. Hindsight if you will. Proactive vs reactive. A long toothed debate.

What in-state DB was ranked higher than McBryde-Spears?

Except he wasn't because this is really no different than before.

What if I told you that you can have players from different recruiting classes play at the same time? Amazing concept, I know but coaches actually do that.

e have a disaster of a CB room and need 3 maybe 4 in this class that at one time had a wish list of Brew, Pickett, Antoine and Phillips.
This wasn't what the OP was crying about.

I think an Antoine flip is a possibility but I am not counting on that. I am disappointed that he chose Miami.

Except that hasn't happened but go ahead and spin it with nonsense like
quote:

That is funny.

We got 10 of the top 11 players from Louisiana for 2024. Yeah I can see how awful that is. But hey, they were top ranked but probably not top of the board.

Anyone making judgments about Raymond at this point is a bit premature. He wasn't all that some made home out to be here at LSU but he was better than others were saying as well. The defensive backfield play this season and a full recruiting cycle will say a lot more about how he is doing and whether we should be happy or have buyer's remorse. In terms of the CB room, it isn't what we are used to and if the OP had said that, I would have been less likely to comment. But that isn't what he said. We have unknowns at CB. They might be much better than their rankings indicate and they may not be.

I generally have no issues with that, just be straightforward with what you want to say rather than making false claims like
quote:
Last 3 years we’ve lost states highest rated Safeties and CB’s to out of state school
That is what I took umbrage with because it is a false statement.
quote:
Others choose to wait things out and save their concern until it's too late to fix.
How are we gonna fix anything.

Hindsight if you will. Proactive vs reactive. A long toothed debate.
That is a debate for the coaches and recruiters to have. I think we inflate our influence here at times.

Mdominogue …. If this is how your name is spelled…. Who cares really.
Go blow smoke up other peoples azzes.
Glad we picked up Pickett but the last 3 years we’ve lost a highly La rated DB and that hurts as half or more of our classes are Louisiana based young men.
Heard the other day LSU has 18 defensive backs…. If we are so stocked ** then why the hell does our defensive backfield stink to the tune of the worst secondary in the nation that can’t cover your own slow azz mom and grandma ??
Case in point….the projected starters at corner are a true freshman and a true sophomore …. well what about the other 16 older guys …. can’t anyone outplay a true freshman (who weighs about 165lbs by the way) and a true sophmore ?
This is the effect of poor recruiting in the past and missing out on the instate cb last 3 years.
If you choose to live in denial… again.. go blowsmoke up somebody else’s azz or go back to your job as the back-up janitor.
In short… Bleaux Me

Let the new defensive staff show their coaching prowess with LSU in the present. If the turnaround is impressive, many will take notice and the recruiting landscape will change significantly. So many point out that none of this is finalized until the ink is dry. There very likely is NOT going to be an "early" (pre-season) signing period this late summer, so much can happen to shift final outcomes.

Concerns? Dang. We are on pace for a top 3 class. You & Tigersorrow go ahead and express your concerns. I will express my pleasure in this class...

You can't even spell something you're looking at? Well, you come off as pretty simple minded.

You should take your own advice.

That has happened every single year for the last 15. Lsu has lost a highly rated in state DB.

Bodies doesn't mean quality but we also haven't seen them play yet under a new coach so you really don't know what they will look like. They were bad last season but they weren't the worst in the nation and won't be this season. Talk about blowing smoke.
quote:
Case in point….the projected starters at corner are a true freshman and a true sophomore …. well what about the other 16 older guys
There are 10 cornerbacks, there is no depth chart yet at CB other than speculation from sports writers and broadcasters. Zy Alexander is penciled in on most of those I have seen. PJ Woodland is the freshman who has been impressing folks. But even those sites still show Jyaire Brown and JK Johnson in close contention for that same CB spot.
And the CB room is young, of the 10 listed CBs
1 is a senior (Zy Alexander - the best CB we had last season when he was healthy) Injured - should be ready to start practicing this summer and many expect to be one of the starters.
1 is a redshirt Junior transfer from Ohio State (JK Johnson) - Injured in camp last season, should be ready this season
1 is a junior who transferred from Ohio State (Jyaire Brown)
2 sophomores, 1 redshirt freshman, and 4 freshmen.

This is the result of the previous staff letting the program go off the rails.

If you choose to live in denial… again.. go blowsmoke up somebody else’s azz
Pointing out the things that you said which were wrong is being in denial? Whose blowing smoke now.

The pattern I see is everyone who lives in New Iberia wants to GTFO ! And can you blame them?

You're arguing with folks who have their minds made up.
It's like this year with Berry - you hate to lose 2 other great backs (Simon would be a take for almost anyone and I think Parker is going to be a great back, too), but realistically how many RBs do you need in 1 class? Those guys want to play, too.
Other than the RBs, the main loss is Antoine. It hurts. Top 10 position, Top 100 player, nationally, and a position of dire need.
But, on a recruit-for-recruit basis, this is the best class in the nation and it isn't particularly close right now.
