Guess that means i've owned you about 500,000 times over then. You're like the kid who gets beat up in school then hopes someone else can beat the bully up for him. Poor fella.

Hey CharlesLSU

You feel good about that prediction

I been chatting with Vol fans, they are pretty confident the DC in future gig/title will get him in Vol land

The don't believe the 900k offer rumor however

Ask your Vol fan buddies how in the hell a DCIW makes any sense. For this scenario to play out Monte would have to install and run his Tampa 2 defense for i'm guessing 3 years or so and then turn the reigns over to a guy who has never run that defense before in his life. I don't buy it. O is a great DL coach and recruiter but hasn't successfully coordinated a defense before in his life.

I think sometime we make football more like rocket science or something

O could run a defense no problem

It's about trust and experience (how long has Coach O been a coach? Lane Kiffen is 33, anyways Les went the safe route..Know what your getting

Yeah, Joseph is DB coach with SF. I have to wonder why he would move to the college ranks to do the same job though. I know he is from Marrero,

Part of the Shaw/Hank Tierney coached/Joseph bunch.(Brother of Sammy and Mickey if I remember)..........

This hire doesn't excite me. I will save my judgement until after I see his scheme in action though. I have a bad feeling this hire means miles is committed to conservative defense and I don't see us staying on top running that style.

When was the last time Chavis had a top ranked defense and Tenn had a winning record?

I dont see why this matters

Because everyone keeps saying he had the #4 defense last year. I don't want the #4 defense if it means only winning 5 games.

quote:

and if you dig further:

1999: 11th
2000: 13th
2001: 13th
2002: 5th
2003: 22nd

And you know what is interesting is the fact that Tenn hasn't won the SEC in any of the years listed (since 1998). And don't say he didn't have talent, in the years listed he had Deon Grant, Shaun Ellis, Parys Haralson, Jason Allen, Julian Battle, Albert Haynesworth, John Henderson, Jesse Mahelona, Jerod Mayo, Jonathan Wade and Gibril Wilson.

Let's also look at all the changes in the SEC since 2003. Nutt to OM, Petino's offense in ArKansas, Meyer at UF, SOS in USCeast, Saban at Bama, Rich Brooks at UK, New Coach at AU and Croom in and out of Moo State.
I'm not saying he wasn't a great DC. I'm saying the SEC is diffrent now than it was then and his defenses havent faired too well against Meyer or Saban coached teams.

Never heard of "Third and Chavis" have you?

Is he better than what we had? Yes.
Will I support him? Absolutely!!!
Am I overly excited? Not really.
