WBD had also proposed to the NBA to carve out a smaller fourth package, although it’s unclear if that’s an option.

I’m surprised they are doing this given what a cheap fricker the Discovery head is.
I figured he would have been fine with cutting the NBA content completely just to save the money going out, regardless of what profits it actually brings in.

Everyone knows the NBA wants Amazon and TNT knows that. Maybe they are threatening to match to force the league and Amazon to conceed to a viable package for TNT.

I don’t think they will have grounds to sue as they had to match the Amazon proposal and what they put forth wasn’t matching it

This could get ugly as the announcement says they did not match the "terms." I wonder if the NBA wanted to go with Amazon and found some small term that was not the same in order to reject TNT.
