ER season 6 theme

I’m doing a random rewatch of some memorable episodes and the ER theme is one of very few in tv that I don’t fast forward

I love the theme.. it builds and builds and gets me so amped up when the beat drops in

Random aside: the one time I was in school and in the ICU, I got to go to a code and as everyone’s hauling arse to the room, the ER theme song flooded my brain as my adrenaline skyrocketed

( sadly the guy didn’t make it, and I was the last one doing compressions when they said to stop.. felt like Dr. Carter that day… )

God what a great freaking show ER was in its prime.

I get a fair amount of late cancellations and have weird gaps in my schedule during summer, so I always pick an old show to binge between sessions.
I’ve been rewatching ER.

Lucy just showed up and I’m already heartbroken.

They air them in the afternoons on Poptv channel.. its in season 6 now and I just got to the one where they all try to save Lucy and Carter and it’s just…. Elite tv.

Grew up on this show since the whole family liked it.

Bout 4 years ago did a serious rewatch that lasted 4-5 seasons.

The theme song is so good. One of the most memorable.

Idk if they were the first to do the long shot, no edit/cut but man it was awesome.

My wife is a nurse and whenever we talk about this show or her work I yell out the medical jargon like EKG, Chem7, etc like I'm in the ER

How does it hold up? This is one of the first shows I watched start to finish as it aired when I was younger, but haven’t seen an episode since.

Honestly, I think it holds up pretty well. Maybe because it focuses so much on relationships and character development.

I might have to revisit it someday. I loved it back then.

It’s definitely much more gritty feeling than vs a Greys anatomy.

Doesn’t feel so sterile and polished and made for tv

ER has much better characters too.

It’s worth a rewatch.. at least until Dr. Green leaves .

Those later seasons are not good.. there’s a few hits but mostly misses .

Oh, the very worst ER episode is head and shoulders above anything Greys has ever done.

As a whole, ER just runs circles around Greys. IMO, though, Chicago Hope was actually a better TV show than ER.

Green’s death would have been a natural narrative to o close the series on. And while it’s not quite as consistently good I think it’s still worthwhile TV till around where Carter leaves as a regular.

Him passing down the advice he was given in the pilot (“Set the tone.”) to a clueless Morris who didn’t get it was pretty symbolic in a meta sense.

Morris wasn't totally clueless by that point but it was odd that he would've said that to him of pretty much anybody left. And to be fair, Carter didn't get it either when Greene told it to him.

I remember watching it in middle school. My dad’s a doc so he liked it, and sort of picking it apart. Watched it all through college and remember watching the last few seasons after I got married and had a kid. Middle seasons were ok but they ended it decently.

The entire thing was a figment of Tommy Westphall's imagination.

On a random note, I worked at a Winn Dixie in the late 90s and now and again the ER theme would play as part of the music feed beamed to the store from corporate. A real WTF moment, hearing that tune wedged between Steely Dan and Gary Wright…

Brings me back to my residency years. Season 1 started when I was in my residency. Never missed that show.

St Elsewhere influenced me so much to become a doctor. I wanted to be Mark Craig

Watching it in the condo this morning before we go to the beach. It’s on the episode where Mark goes in for his surgery. Damn seeing Anthony Edwards in that atmosphere they were able to build had me feeling nervous as hell like I was going under that knife.

Great television.

You need to watch the movie Croupier with Alex Kingston and Clive Owen. You can thank me later after the bedroom scene.
