BI - shouldn’t we just go into season with him, and trade before deadline?

Why trade now when demand has ran out- wait until in season when teams start to believe they are in playoff contention.

We took the same approach with Ball. Griff overplayed his hand. We ended up with nothing. I’m sure this will also work out beautifully.
If Griff is worried about winning the trade, he should just pivot and trade Murphy and keep Bi. He’s been infactuated with him since we was a Laker for some strange reason.
Murphy woukd definitely pull whatever center he wants and probably some draft capital.

If Murphy gets to the point he would ever ask for BI type of money he would be a franchise superstar.
Trey is built to be the elite role player and will always fit on the team with what we want to do. If he pushes past that he will be one of the most coveted players in the league.
We need to keep Trey at ~$25-30 million and unload BI. BI is most likely going to demand to take too much of the cap and be in the way of Herb and Trey’s playing time. There is no reason for Trey to stay with us to come off the bench.
We should also offload CJ now.
CJ and BI are good players, but they do not fit in the financial future and timeline of the team anymore.

Problem with trying to offload both right now is that teams are financially conservative at the second and aren’t willing to take on big contracts if they aren’t going to compete. The kinds of deals we get are more likely going to be worse contracts for hopefully someone who is a better fit or just outright downgrades for salary flexibility.
BI’s market is not great and I don’t think CJ’s is any better with one additional year on it.

There’s teams still interested in him, but at what price? We have not gotten any inklings of what offers look like or what Griff is asking other teams for.

No one wants to pay him what he wants.
As of now, BI’s people are trying to find someone who will pay him and that has been allowed by Griff since they are making it public.
They will either find one and look into trades or BI will see what the market holds and start talking a lower extension with the team.

I think it’s both. Probably had decent offers but under market value so Griff wasn’t budging b/c it would look like he lost the trade. It appears he wasn’t even getting the same package we gave up for Murray so now he’s gonna gamble for the trade deadline.

Yes, everyone is aware of this.
I’m talking strictly about his trade value, I am curious what Griff is asking for and if he is being unreasonable, and what other teams are actually offering.
For instance say Miami is offering Jovic and Herro, does Griff think he needs Jamie and a 1st also? If so Griff is being unreasonable.
However, if say the offers coming in are some type of bad shite like a straight up Ben Simmons swap for Ingram, then I can understand. Before someone says something, I know Brooklyn is not interested, just one of the worst contracts I could think of.

I think some team will give him a max next off-season. I think the problem is that nobody wants to pay him the max AND trade assets to do so.
So instead of making an offer that Griff finds acceptable for BI, they're gambling on just waiting until next off-season and signing him outright. I think a team like Charlotte will pay him max or near money next off-season.

There is always a risk in doing that.
Ask the Lakers about not pulling the trigger on a Paul George trade because of Indiana’s demands. He ended up being flipped to OKC and signing a new deal there before being sent to the Clippers.
There is always the risk of someone stepping up to get their guy and extending him and then you are left holding your dick in free agency.
