When does one need to get an inspection sticker for a new vehicle, after permanent plate arrives?

Included when purchasing new vehicle in La., $10 for 1yr, $20 for 2yr. Not all preowned vehicles qualify, i.e. tint too dark, etc…

I was told by an inspection sticker place about a month ago that if it's on the road, it's supposed to have one.

I moved to Louisiana from Mississippi. My tint is too dark. I can’t find anyone to give me a sticker. Haven’t had a problem yet.

I wonder how “brake tag” became a thing. I have heard it my entire life but never heard anyone explain how it was called that and not inspection sticker.

We used to have to have those in Arkansas but don’t anymore. Thank goodness.
My son had a pathfinder with the check engine light on because of some emissions system crap and the price of fixing it was stupid. He brought it up here and sold it to a state cop for his daughters and they’re still driving it.
