I’d put us ahead of the Vols.

This criteria is bullshite if it's the AP era, you've either won a championship or you haven't. If you haven't. You aren't top 25.

Ole Miss
Wisconsin

don't belong.

I hate Florida. But that seems too low.

Tennessee is way too high.

Interesting that FSU is so high up despite a shorter dominance than most of the others. They didn't really take off until the early 80's.

Miami should jump the 2 in front, then the ten on the bottom are interchangeable.

Looks almost about right though.

Same for DaU and they really only had about one great 20 year period in their history.

I wonder what their formula was because I did the exact same thing a couple weeks ago. Got largely the same results except UGA and LSU were swapped (only separated by 2 whole points, meaning they are essentially equal) and UCLA was above Clemson.

I assigned 25 points for every 1st place finish and 24 points for every 2nd, and so on and went year by year

Maybe the put a little extra weight for being #1 than I did. But UGA and LSU both have 3 AP titles but I wonder if they gave LSU credit for 2003 even though the AP put USC #1. Might explain why LSU is higher in their formula. And Clemson has 3 AP poll titles to UCLA's 0, UCLA just had more seasons where they were ranked high even though they never finished #1. They had the most points of any team that never accomplished a #1 finish

Here's the link to the results of what I did

Looks like we've got a few programs that made the list based on ancient history.

They really only had one run with one coach. But what a hell of a run. Something like 15 STRAIGHT years finishing in the top 5. That’s incredible.

College football didn't start in 1990 or 2000.

They haven't been playing a very long time compared to every other program on the list too.

I'd put LSU above the Vols but no way ahead of Penn State....13 undefeated seasons spanning a Century. LSU had a LOT of lean years. This list is obviously AP poll rankings from 1936-present. If it wasn't for the last two decades, LSU might not make the Top 25.
