If you saw the same rumor I saw, that’s what the Pels want, not what BI is willing to take. He has no reason to commit to a less than max deal.

I’m A OK w 4 yr 160M tbh. I think he’s movable down the line at that number. I’m judging him on the whole body of work. Not just the OKC series. I’d even be willing to escalate it up to $180M (up to a $5M bonus a year for playing 70 games or more).
We could embrace the small ball chaos for half a season. See what happens. And at a certain point, CJ starts to become more movable when he only has 1.5 or 1 year left on his contract.

I mean a player would be making a 3rd of the entire salary cap and only playing like 16% of the total playing minutes. If that player is not one of the best in the league that is kind of a waste.
