I’ve only started buying handguns. I’ve bought a P226 and an HK. Both 9MM.
Would like to go for a 1911 but am still weighing the billion brands, The Sigs speak to me.
Anyway. I’m wondering if y’all have a sub $1200 .45 that you like and is reliable. The only one(s) I don’t want for now are long slides. Been looking at the G21 and th G30.

I have a Springfield Armory Mil Spec I like and a lot of folks like the Ruger offering

Glock 36 and Glock 30 SF. The Glock 41 is my favorite with an SRO.
As mentioned in another post, SRO, is not duty rated. But compared to the RMR, it’s like looking at a big screen tv.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry that is my EDC. Great pistol, IMO…

Same here.

Take a look at HK and Kimber. Both are ultra reliable.

1911 is like holding the right hand of God…
I have a few. My favorite is the commander size 4.5”
I have a Colt Delta Elite 10mm full size
Springfield Champion 4.5” completely rebuilt frame components on it.
Para Ordinance 4.5” that I bought from an academy on Black Friday for cheap.
Built a 2011.
Nighthawk Talon IV .45 3.5” with full size frame.
I want another full size .45. Not sure what I’ll get though. If I can find another Nighthawk I’ll buy one.
Then I also have an H&K USP in .45. Love it especially with the silencer

I’m gonna say the Ruger SR1911. Shoots like a dream and can be had for under $1k. You can find some pretty good reviews on YouTube.
Here’s my commander size with the vz grips

Does it have a rail for lights and water not?

Another vote for the Ruger
See if CZ - Dan Wesson has anything in your price range.
Their Pointman 7 is a nice gun but I think price has gone up

shite, for 1200 you can getchuckedup
Find a range attached to a gun store and test drive a few, or at least pick them up and seem how they feel in hand. I've only found one 45 that feels better in my hands, and it's an hk double your price range. It's different for everyone, and you don't know until you test it out.

Save a little more for a Dan Wesson. It's worth it.

Have a S&W Governor that shoots .45 ACP, .45 Colt and .410 (2.5").

I was going to recommend the ruger but holy crap they’ve gone up since I got mine. The g10 gripped one is reasonable, but if I was doing it all over again right now I would probably get a Springfield mil-spec.

I have the HK USP Compact w the stainless slide in .45, has never misfired or jammed. Had it for prob 20 years. It’s a tank!

I would put my $300 old school Ruger P90 up against most any of these newer 45s.
Reliable, rugged, and will shoot most any kind of 45 ACP ammo reliably.
