Nissan Titan???

Nissan Titan. Passed one today but had a long look along the basin bridge. It was a 4x4. Looked like a high quality Ford -f-250. Any owners here and what do you think?

I have a 2018 4x4. Bought it for 28k with 10k miles on it in May 2018. Nothing has ever broken on it. Just oil changes and tires. Tows like a beast, uses a lot of gas, the stereo sound like shite. It's very dependable.

Not a Titan owner, but we have an Armada.
I think Nissan gives you the best value for your money. They offer the last of what I’d call an “old school” V8. No active fuel management, no forced induction, just a big gas-guzzling engine with plenty of power and torque. The Armada shares the same engine with the Titan, and it’s been used in a number of foreign market vehicles since 2010, so it’s got a little bit of a track record.
This is our 3rd Nissan. I had a Frontier and an Altima back in the day. No issues from either. They were solid vehicles. The Armada has been great so far as well.
The “problem” with Nissan is that some people view them as low-class. Maybe it’s because they’re usually cheaper than other brands (especially if you can get a low-mileage CPO; they come with a hell of a warranty), and maybe it’s because Altima drivers appear to be some of the worst on the road. But I think that’s an unfair assessment. Admittedly, their interiors and tech were a little spartan at times, but I think now Nissans are pretty much as good as any vehicle in their class.
So you might get the stink-eye from Chevy and Ford owners, but you’ll more than likely have made a more economical choice with the Titan, even with the added fuel cost.

I have a 2018 Titan SV 4x4 that just hit 100k. Nothing fancy but that's what I like about it.
My wife has a 2015 Armada Platinum. Just hit 165k. It's a tank. No major issues minus replacing the starter and some other minor repairs.
2024 was the last year for the Titan though.

I have one. 17 pro4x. 165k.
Only problem I've had is the smart charging alternator doesn't charge under hard acceleration or coasting. Given I drive like a lunatic I had issues with it not charging the battery fully
Unplug one wire at the battery and it functions like a normal alternator.
I have dirtking arms, bilstein bypass shocks, and basically no lift.
Looks like a paw paw truck.
On the levee road over the weekend I accidentally caught a few feet of air going over a cattleguard.
Smooth landing.
I did replace the front bearings at 150k.
Mid 2019s and prior can develop piston slap due to poor oiling of the rear of cylinder 7.
It does not affect running nor has there ever been a documented case of one failing with regular oil changes.
The blocks themselves are machined to a set of tolerances tighter than ANY other production V8. The result is an engine thats quite happy at 2k rpm or 6k rpm. The arabs and aussies love em.

They have the best powertrain warranty at 6 year/100,000 as well. With the crap manufacturers are putting right now that is not bad.
I have a 2020 RAM that’s at 75k miles that needs a new engine that is not under warranty. Never again.

That’s about right. I drive a Ford f250 and the Titan looks more like a ford than a chevy

I will say if you start looking at the brakes and frame on the XD compared to a domestic half ton, it's criminal that it was only rated for 11k lbs or so.

The Later model XDs are some of the best trucks on the road. .
That diesel is bulletproof snd it has a Toyota transmission. Nissan just never found a lerge enough market share because people olare brainwashed into thinking their POS ford's and GMs were better products... But they aren't.
The Armada is also made in Japan. I'll take any car made in Japan over the last 5-6 yrs than anything made in the US.

A lot of truck buyers are brand loyal no doubt. But I think there are a couple reasons besides blind brand loyalty.
Full size Nissan trucks were simply unfamiliar. Even if a person wasn’t super loyal to a brand, Chevy Ram and Ford were familiar. And the Tundra was already a solid choice for anyone who wanted to venture beyond the big three. Titan was an unknown that didn’t offer anything compelling for customers to try.
The exterior styling of the Titan has always been…very subjective. I think the first generation was absolutely hideous. I don’t think I’m alone in that. The current model does look much better.
Myself for example. I am the target audience for Titan. I’m not brand loyal and I think Titan is a solid truck and the current model looks like a good deal. And yet I still didn’t seriously consider a Titan when in the market in 2017. The offerings from GM, Ram, Ford, and Toyota all seemed good and were enough to wade through. I went with the Tundra.

The first gen Armada was made in Canton. The second gen (2017- present) is made in Japan.

Last I heard 24 was the last year for the Titan to be manufactured. I have a 2018 with 125K and really enjoy it. It has only had minimal maintenance issues so far.

Titans had a problem with the transmission cooler early on. Water in your transmission is not a good thing.

The strawberry milkshake of death was taken care of back in 2007 I think in the Titan. It took into 11 to get it worked out in the Nissan Xterra and Frontier.
Basically if you see Nissan blue coolant, you're fine. The green applications were the ones with the issues

We have a Armada with 215,000 miles on it. We also have a Frontier with 315,000. Oil changes every 5,000 miles on both and no real issues. Both are great vehicles. We had an electronic transmission sensor go bad on the Frontier around 200,000. Replaced it and 2 others while they were in there and no more problems.
