Anyone here had Lyme disease before? I got bit by a tick about 3 weeks ago and have been experiencing symptoms for the past few days. Going to get tested but have read antibodies may not show for 4-6 weeks. Located on eastern shore of Maryland fyi.

My friend got bit by a tick and now can’t eat meat, she has to carry an epi pen all the time now.

Did the tick leave the "bullseye" mark on your skin?

I had about 10 years ago. Had the classic bulls eye pretty soon after. Doctors wouldn’t treat me for Lyme because they said it was too early to show symptoms. Eventually got very lethargic and had zero energy. Finally the third doctor treated me for Lyme and it took 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear it.

No doctor ever told me I had Lyme, I found out when the health department called me to find out where I got the tick bite.

If they had treated it right away I could have avoided 3 months of severe lethargy.

Isn’t it permanent? I’ve never understood this disease

Yup got it. The lethargy is what made me start looking into it. I’ve probably been sleeping 16-18 hours a day for the last 4 days and have zero energy.

It’s a bacterial disease that if treated with antibiotics will go away. Although they say you can have antibodies for years after treatment.

There are other tick borne illnesses too. Hopefully you don't develop the allergy to red meat.

Your friend has a mental disorder not a meat allergy.

Why don’t you just get doxycycline Rx to be on safe side. Go to PCP or urgent care and they should treat you empirically

Ask your doctor to treat you for Babesia as well as a precaution.

Be aggressive, and don't under treat the infection. The risk isn't worth it.

30 years ago. One day it was if as I was suddenly washed out and wrung out of all energy and strength. Could literally not walk from one end of the house to the other. Did NOT get tested (no bullseye -- but it is not always present), did not see a doc (bad miscalculation), did NOT get on an antibiotic regimen as I ought to.

Affects me still in a number of ways.

Don't wait it out. Aggressively attack it. My recommendation:

Seek a doc with experience in Lyme Assessment & Treatment (online or off-line --- doesn't matter these days.)

You may be prescribed a strong regimen of antibiotics. But in any case, get on a Covid Protocol ASAP (enzymes: Nattakinase/Serrapeptase / Bromelain, NAC, D3/K2, Resverotrol/Grape Seed, C, Zinc, Mag Threonate, Melatonin for sleep). Low carb diet. Do NOT stress you body or mind. Rest up for now as much as possible.
