Could have been the Pels hoisting that trophy.

Jrue,Brown,Tatum and Zion would have been fun to watch. Not sure Griff wanted them anyway because he was enamored with BI. Still not sure what their final offer was after Kyrie fricked the situation up.

Crazy to think half this board wanted the Lakers package instead of Tatum and Brown b/c of BI’s potential.

Tatum and Brown was never remotely close to offered. It was, at best, either/or. The Celtics were pushing Brown.

Neither we’re close to the players they are today. I vividly remember McNamara saying he would take any Lakers package over a package with both of them included b/c he didn’t think either would amount to anything special. Lots of posters on here wanted BI.

Ainge woukd have shipped them both to have a big three of Kyrie, Hayward and AD.

Just goes to show you that the dude doesn't know ball... but we all knew that.

I'm sure his fifth alter will be here in a minute to showcase the god complex.

I don't recall any possibility of getting both Tatum and Brown for AD. Tatum was at least discussed, but when Kyrie flaked out on the Celtics, that idea was DOA. It probably was dead anyway because Davis was clear he wouldn't sign an extension and only had a year left on is deal (like BI currently). So Ainge risked losing Tatum, losing Kyrie and then losing Davis all after only one year. No way he could have done that.

What was more interesting was later the Cs were interested in Jrue. It was my understanding that Jalen Brown, who had been benched in the 2018-2019 season, was a possibility in a deal centered on Holiday. A pairing Brown, Ingram and Zion would have been huge, especially considering what Griff ended up getting in the Holiday deal. Add Markkanen a season later in the Lonzo transaction with the Bulls and draft Maxey at 13 instead of Lewis and your knocking on the door already...

If I recall correctly Griff was crazy about BI. But it doesn’t matter now!

everyone wanted Tatum and Brown, but it was never offered. Most wanted Tatum, but apparently he was never offered. BI was a concern back then to most because of the blood clot issue he had at the time. Doesn't matter. apparently the Lakers were the only team we were going to be able to get a deal done with and we did the best we could. My frustration was that Griff held out too long and lost out on Zubac because the Lakers had to dump him for nothing in order to get another signing done.

Yup.

https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/nba/boston-celtics/reports-celtics-were-open-to-including-jayson-tatum-in-anthony-davis-trade/341318/?amp=1

And I do think they were pushing more of a package with Brown, Smart and draft picks for AD. But like I said Kyrie tanked that. They were willing to role the dice on getting AD to stay but once Kyrie checked out Ainge wasn’t taking the gamble.
