Half way through the 2+hours and it’s another solid show.

Question though.

Politics aside, could you vote for someone who was 40 years sober from a serious drug addiction?

IMO 40 years clean is a HoF type recovery but that’s a really big knock. Anyone who’s been an addict knows you’re only one day away from square one again. It’s something you never beat, you only control it as best and as long as you can.

I would vote for an alcoholic who was 5 years sober if I liked his politics. Especially over a douche who showers with his own daughter in a creepy way.

That’s not what I’ll was asking.

But you know that. You’re just not capable. Thanks.

Easily. 40+ years is almost the majority of most lifetimes. That kind of mental discipline would actually make me more likely to vote for someone (if I agreed with their views).

Not to diminish people struggling with alcoholism but it’s a different addiction than meth and herion I think.

I’m not knocking that accomplishment like I said it’s HoF recovery but addicts will tell you your never are out of woods with addiction. It demon is always there, waiting for a chance to drag you down.

I depends on the person. I think it should be clear after 40 years he’s not the type to fall of the rocker again

Some people can get a year or two here and there and struggle the whole time white knuckling it.

I was a severe, extreme alcoholic. Had gotten to the point I was intentionally trying to drink myself to death and almost pulled it off. I had bouts of sobriety. One that was over a year. And I would always fall back in because I had not truly made up my mind.

I’m now 3 years sober and won’t ever do it again. That might be hard to fully believe by others, and that’s understandable, but in my own heart I know it won’t happen. Once I made up my mind, and also genuinely cried out to God for help, there has been zero issues. I’ve never been tempted ever again or had any cravings. I’ve even hung out in environments with alcohol routinely and it just doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

I've been an addict and I don't subscribe to that theory at all.

I beat my demon and I'll never have to fight it again, and don't even have any desire to look its direction again. Ever.

We're not victims in "perpetual recovery". We are conquerors.

The more I learn about how people make their voting decisions, the more I think democracy is highly overrated.

This isn’t true. Alcoholism in many ways is the worst of all. It, along with benzos (which I was addicted to both) is the only substance that the withdrawals can kill you.

40 years? If I approved of them as a candidate I absolutely would vote for them

How many people do you vote for who are closet addicts?
