If he wasn't playing QB, he would be a beast at wr. They have a clip on YouTube with him playing that position 7on7. He's going to be great. Has that Joe burrow vibe and mentally.

Just cut the crap. Nobody will ever be a Joe Burrow. That was a one and done phenom.
There may be future great players but never another Joe.

If Jayden Daniels had a competent defense, I believe he wouldn't put up better numbers than Burrow and he would've won a title to go along with his Heisman.

Burrow was at his best beginning the first time he was hit hard. If Underwood has that in him then I can't wait.

Didn't Joe start his third season as a starter in organized football, in the NFL? Didn't Cincy make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade in Joe's third season in organized football as a starter.
Daniels will be on the clock in Sept. in his sixth year as a starter.

PY:

40 Daniels

Cmp%:
76.3 Burrow
72.2 Daniels

TY:

If you wanted, you know, some complete numbers.

And I'd love to see snap count. I suspect Daniels had significantly more snaps.

Man you folks claiming Daniels>Burrow are crazy. Burrow would have beaten FSU, Ole Miss and Bama last season

Yeah, I don’t care what the QB rating says. Burrow was still more impressive and I love what Daniels did his Heisman season. Even Daniels deep ball was great, but Burrow put up more passing TDs and I love me some passing TDs. Still seems a little weird to compare them given how talented Daniels was as a dual threat extending drives.

Imagine the numbers Burrow puts up if he had that terrible defense forcing him to put up more numbers. Both QBs were highly efficient.

I also agree with another poster that I don’t think Burrow loses 3 games at his best. I absolutely believe he beats FSU.

Burrow played 15 games in 2019 compared to 12 games for Daniels in 2023. Daniels actually had more TDs (passing + rushing) and total yards per game than Burrow.

No way. Again 15 games vs. 12. Also, we went pretty fast in 2019.

Just looked it up. Daniels had 327 pass attempts and 135 rush attempts. 462 total plays (assuming this is what you meant).

Burrow had 527 pass attempts and 115 rush attempts. 642 total plays.

For reference, as a team we ran about 72 plays per game in 2019 vs. about 65 plays per game in 2023.

The argument is a bit silly though. They were both elite. What sets Burrow apart more than anything (to me at least) is the way he dominated in the postseason. I do think Daniels could have gone on a similar run if our defense hadn’t been garbage, but unfortunately he didn’t get the opportunity.. so it’ll always be a “what if?”

It’s not fair to compare the two in terms of one being better than the other. They are different and both amazing. I never thought I would say this though, by the end of last season, if I had to pick one of the two to be my quarterback, I would have picked Daniels because not only is a very accurate quarterback that doesn’t throw interceptions, his run game is off the charts and a real difference maker. Even with an amazing completion rate people still underestimate Daniel’s accuracy. Sneaky accurate.

Let me end this shite.
List the teams and defensive rankings of those teams and the teams they beat.
Burrow beat 7 Top 10 teams including the preseason top 4. Nobody has done that.

Daniels had one of the best seasons I've ever seen a QB have. And I have never seen a QB run as good as he did last year. Burrow had the best season I've ever seen a QB have. In the biggest games, he made huge plays in the biggest moments. Burrow played numerous monster defenses and shredded all of them.

Against? He lost the only tough games where he played defenses with a heartbeat. Those schedules weren’t remotely close. The defensive ratings of those teams the 2019 teams beat less the 2019 stats versus them were MUCH better. Hell Clemson was giving up 150 you passing, Burrow put up a shitload.
The 2019 LSU defense was NOT very good during the season due to suspensions, grades and injuries. It got good in December.
