Big fan of coffee, posted about it a few times..I have a good grinder, pour over, flat bottom, French press, etc...Daughter home from school for the summer wants to go halves on a machine for our common area where my setups are..Looking for advice on anything in that range ( i know a few here laugh at the suggestion, but I'm not buying to simply say i have an expensive one)

Breville (honestly, the Bambino over the plus is my gut), Gaggia, Gevi + any others in that range...

ETA: Looking for non-pod machines

I have Nespresso and can’t live without it.

Recently tried Lavazza and it was the best cup of espresso I’ve ever had.

I have the De'Longhi Stilosa from that article. Regardless of price, it makes fantastic espresso, and for $100 it really is unbeatable. Buy a coffee grinder and you are all set.

Have you ever looked at Flair machines? They are manual machines, but reviews consistently speak highly of the output, value, and I would assume the chances of them breaking is significantly lower.

Actually looked at manual for years simply to have another cool device on my counter..

to the user suggesting a Moka, it was one of the first tools i picked up 20+ years ago and i still actually use one i got in Italy, every now and then

I bought the Turin Legato based on recommendations from this board and a lot of YouTubes. My YouTube recommendations are all coffee videos now. It’s $499 but you’ll need a few accessories that will put you a little over budget ($50-100 more). I’m a complete novice and my last setup was just a moka pot. After a few weeks of over-caffeination from test runs I got it down pretty well.

You can get a refurbished Gaggia Classic Pro for $350, new for $450. Depends on what you want to do, but if you want a cheaper machine and a better grinder, you're probably going to pay close to $600 after taxes.

At that point you're paying almost $500 after tax and will need a grinder. Up to you, but I prefer my Breville Barista Express. It's not the greatest machine on the planet, but does a damn good job and is easy to maintain. I have not had any problems thus far. Bean grinder on it works fine, I just need better beans.
