Has new ownership, that will "remodel" the rooms in time for the Super Bowl. Yeah I'm sure fans who come in town want to stay there. The Sugar Bowl Courts werent available? The Jimmy Swaggart inn? New owners also own the Brothers Chicken franchise. This should go over well. What's next, resurrection of the Downs Lounge across the street?

They might if they’re not subject to whatever bullshite regulations Orleans hotels might go through… hence why St Bernard has gone from one rinky dink motel to three including a Holiday Inn and Best Western

LOL, it’s already June. It would never be ready for the SB.

I'm sure they'll be lining up to stay in Da Parish. Clubbing at Atlantis on Paris Rd.

HEY! I went to a delightful bachelor party that started with a school bus and a trip to the Downs Lounge. I grew up in Metairie and had never set foot in that place. However, I must say that the ladies were very accommodating. The 120 lb groom to be ended up tied to chair on the stage with various skankettes rubbing their money makers all over him. It was initially hilarious, but slightly traumatic for me. I suspect that it was only traumatic for him.

. A although the crowd just to be us

I am old enough to remember , as a little kid- before the Evergreen Inn and before Lafrienire Park next door even existed- there was a Denny’s in what is now the Evergreen parking lot and we would eat breakfast there on the regular .. they had killer French toast and these cool masks/hats you could wear with different characters on them.. also, Tiffin Inn across the street had the GOAT pancakes and syrups .

Don’t think i ever made into Downs Lounge, that was a titty bar right ? I spent plenty of time in Visions off the interstate out towards the east, and in Fat City at the Ship’s Wheel, maybe the most ridiculous name ever for a titty bar .

I think Al Copland owned that place at one time before it became Evergreen Inn…

Side note: Good to see Taun Trung with Fox 8 now, always liked him.

Everyone says New Orleans is dangerous…

But over the last 30 years they’ve found WAY more dead people in rooms at THAT Metairie hotel than any one in New Orleans.

It was called the Ship’s Wheel before it became a titty bar.

Because it’s right off the interstate and it was usually filled with low rent transients….

Denny’s is further up Vets next to the Discount Zone on the other side the interstate. It’s still there.
