Remind me again why Kling rides the bench. Pearson got the only hit then was benched so Larson could be lost in LF

Pearson 1-3 (benched)
Larson 0-3 HBP K
Brown 0-4 K

eta: More stats below in case anyone wants to use recent numbers to back up their argument. The outfield is slumping and we are benching our best glove minus a few sporadic innings.

To be fair, Brown hit two balls on the screws and Larson had decent contact on a couple of ABs as well.

Because Kling has failed to provide any offense at all this year. Not difficult to understand

Would’ve been better if they could’ve caught fly balls. Hoping for two wins tomorrow

Because Kling doesn’t hit any better than them. One guys is inconsistent as he has been his entire career. The other two are freshmen playing in the postseason for the first time.

Brown hit 2 hard

Larson had solid contact twice, was HBP and had a BB draw but rung up on a bad call

All that said, Jay threw the LH in there vs Tenn in the SETCG vs a LHP and they went like 0-10. So that is two games where he kinda stared down the split and did not give a shite

That was our strength preseason. I don't think anyone judged our roster accurately- including jay

Not trying to pile but numbers are numbers. Kling hit .221 and struck out 27 times in 122 ABs. That’s bad.

That doesn’t matter. They’re still outs! Larson will be a very good but he hasn’t hit will since the A&M series. It’s been over a month. He looks lost in the outfield at times.

When filling out a lineup card, it absolutely does matter. Hard hit balls that are outs aren’t exactly frowned upon.

This game was lost when Tanks and Trav both hit into inning ending DPs when we had a chance to take the lead and do damage. Their big boppers came through and ours didn’t and dats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes!

Since May 1st...

Kling .364 BA 4 for 11
Brown .250 BA 7 for 28
Pearson .210 BA 17 for 62
Larson .196 BA 11 for 56
Bingham .091 BA 2 for 22*

*(giving Mac credit for the Tenn hit that was an error

Numbers are numbers

In the second half of the season, his batting average is better than Bingham and Pearson and even Brown.

Batting average since April 1st

Larson .288
Kling .264
Brown .223
Pearson .224
Bingham .169

To be clear, I'm not saying Kling is the best or that we should bench Brown.

In this regional, the 4 outfielders that have batted and Frey have combined to be 2 for 21. Everyone knows that Kling is the best defensive outfielder we have. He isn't going to make that lineup any worse. In the last 3 games we've botched 3 balls in the outfield: Brown (Tenn), Bingham (Wofford), and Larson (UNC)

You are wrong. That was true 2 months ago, but it hasn’t been true since then.

In the last 3 games, we’ve missed three balls in the outfield. Two of them were in center while our best CF was on the bench. In those 3 games, the batters playing instead of Kling have gone 3 for 33. There is no way, the lineup is worse with him in it. Larson hasn’t been good at the plate since April and is not good in the OF. Bingham is the worst hitter of them right now and he missed a ball yesterday in center.
