With UNC not as big of a threat to run as Wofford and Milazzo looking completely lost at the plate does Johnson give Neal a shot tomorrow? Or at least pinch hit Neal by the 5th or 6th inning?

Probably won’t start Neal against a lefty.

The NC pitcher is a lefty. Expect us to stay with Alex.

Some of you clearly haven’t watched most of the games this season. Milazzo should start over Neal 100 out of 100 times. I’m not even going to waste my time explaining why.

When Milazzo plays we win. It’s that simple.

Neal has proven he can’t get the job done, offensively or defensively. His defense routinely costs us a run or two a game. Stick with Milazzo, he is a proven commodity.

Millazo 100%

Neal hasn’t been good since his injury last year. Also, he is an awful defensive catcher.

Milazzo hasn’t had a hit in his last 10 ABs yet still has more hits in his last 7 games than Neal has in SEC play.

Milazzo is 8/31 since Ole Miss (all SEC or Wofford games), while Neal is 6/42 in SEC play.

Milazzo also has 4 walks over that 7 game stretch.

He’s objectively a better hitter lately than Neal is against elite arms, even despite his 3 game slide.

I did it for you.

We all love to see a Neal left handed HR of course, but he’s objectively worse against good arms. Hell, Milazzo is better than any of our regular pinch hitters against SEC arms.

Now is not the time to be experimenting with the lineup. Jay has said numerous times that when Milazo is catching LSU wins

The abject ignorance of some of these people is astounding.

Neal should only sub in to pinch hit for Milazzo if it’s situational, like down in the bottom of the ninth…..Defensively, there’s no contest, but watching Milazzo swing as he bails out of the box on outside pitches, ugh!

Neal was very good defensively before his injury last season. I am not sure what happened to the guy but he seems to have taken several steps back.

Millazo does an awesome job framing pitches and can go after and get loose or errant pitches. He has trouble defensively with the pitch in the dirt underneath him. He is a good all around defensive catcher. He isn’t very good at the plate but is a senior and is smart about looking pitches over generally. Most teams don’t expect to much out of their catchers offensively and Millazo is no exception. We have other positions that are equally weak and probably could be criticized but I would rather stay positive.

Milazzo is playing because he handles the pitchers best. When he is not in we have pitching failures moreso than when he is playing. Several pitchers over the season have mentioned him as important to them doing well.
