The People of New York, what was on that verdict sheet, have deprived us of the right to choose our own leaders without coercion (only persuasion) as allowed under our constitution.

the "people of New York" have deprived millions of us of our constitutional rights and there must be accountability. Their representatives, chosen by them, aren't going to be held accountable. Therefore the people that chose them should be by the rest of us. That's democracy in action.
