To have his bat in the lineup this year would be a game-changer

Man why can’t BR have a minor league team? Hell even Lafayette would be something.

"Life in the lower minors is rough: Blake Dean said after playing in The Box, it "was depressing" playing in most minor league parks. He didn't retire because he was struggling, he just got tired of minor league ball.

Tre Morgan is tearing up high A too. He’s going to find himself in AA soon.

He hit .237 as a 23 year old in Low A. I’m pretty sure that also had something to do with it.

Good! I go to Pensacola Blue Wahoos games (AA affiliate of Miami), and the Montgomery Biscuits (the AA team that Morgan would move up to), is in the same division! My son and I are anxiously awaiting watching him!
By the way... Jacob Berry plays for our Wahoos. He's struggling a bit at the plate (chasing waaaay too much), but he does display nice power. I think he'll put it all together soon, and will make a great player.

There’s a terrifying mascot, if there ever was one.

LSU Baseball is already a minor league team. Neither city would show out the way you think. College towns aren't the same as those Atlantic coast cities that have thriving MiLB teams.

I was working suburban Philly and had a corporate apt next to that park. I went to a game there and was beaned by a foul ball walking in.
Cool minor league park.
Cool minor league park.

For the more avid baseball fans, does Gavin Dugas have enough talent to move up anymore? I always liked the guy, but he doesn’t really cover a position well, and he’s never hit quite THAT well to get there on that. What is his ceiling?

Tre is very hot right now. His defense is already high MLB level at first, if he keeps hitting like this he’ll be in the show.

But towns like Springfield, MO and Corpus Christi seem to handle it just fine.

Anyone remember the Evangaline League? This is going way back. In the 30s. My cousin played there and make it to the Dodgers in 1940 and pitched a no-hitter in 1946.

My first reaction would be to say that he’s probably not a future big leaguer. Honestly, if you said that about every player in A Ball, you’d be right far more times than you were wrong.
That being said, baseball players can develop and “figure things out” at vastly different ages. The Astros best pitcher this season didn’t make the big leagues until 28 and now has a sub 2.00 ERA and a no-hitter as a 30 year old. I don’t think Dugas will make the majors. But if he did, would I be surprised? Not at all. As Smoke used to say, “that’s baseball”.

Wilmington is high A.
So yea, he has a shot to make it to AA.
