Main Card (ESPN+ PPV, 10 p.m. ET)

Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier

Sean Strickland vs. Paulo Costa

Kevin Holland vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk

Jailton Almeida vs. Alexandr Romanov

Randy Brown vs. Elizeu Zaleski

Preliminary Card (ESPN 2/ESPN+, 8 p.m. PT)

Cesar Almeida vs. Roman Kopylov

Grant Dawson vs. Joe Solecki

Phil Rowe vs. Jake Matthews

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono

Decent card nothing special unless Dustin wins but does have a few bangers.

Very tough matchup for Dustin. Hopefully he can find a way to keep this on the feet mostly. Very tough matchup for a guy that struggles with that type of of fighter. But Dustin is a dog and it’s mma anything can happen. Would be special if it did Dustin deserves that closure the dude has always fought the best of the best and built his way back up after losses each time.

Costa vs Strickland seems to be flying under the radar. Should be an interesting matchup. I could see Stricklands defense frustrating Paulo.

I think it’ll be a decent card. Pulling for Dustin. I just hope he doesn’t over respect the ground attack. Hopefully he just fights his style (which often seems toe to toe) and he should be good. When he fought Olivera, he seemed to fight scared at times.

Strickland/Costa should be a good one. It’s tough to make a call in that. Strickland does good at staying consistent and wearing the opponent down. Costa seems to be able to last in fights (excluding Izzy fight) which is unusual for physique.

Under the radar fight

Both Niko and Morono fights are usually entertaining. Morono always surprises me at how good he is.

Does Dustin retire if he loses? This is his last chance and I’m pulling for him hard.

Haven't heard that name in a while. He seems to always bring it.

I think Islam takes this. He and Khabib and the other Dagestanis are just at another level with grappling and controlling things on the ground.

Agree.

he said win or lose he may retire. he is in an interesting spot to make alot of money if he wins then conor wins. I know he is well off but thats at least a 5-10 million payday I am sure with ppv points.

As soon as Dustin engages, Islam will look for the takedown, and I don’t see Dustin having much success on the ground vs islam

Strickland/Costa could go either way, but I think Strickland out strikes Paulo

AJ Fletcher lost over the weekend at BFC67.

I guess he lost his UFC spot and then lost to a dude on Saturday that he should have beaten.

I was there. If bored, uninterested & predictable was a fighing style, AJ mastered it during that fight. He was a bull in a china cabinet during his run up; the factory x transition into a "mcfighter" doesn't suit him.

I’ve been in withdrawals with no UFC for 2 weeks. I had to resort to watching Urijah Faber and slap jiu-jitsu over the weekend.

Strickland came to a local gym recently and trained. Didn't blow it up on social or anything, just reached out to the owner and asked if he could since he would be passing through the area.

Dude is exactly the same guy as he is on camera

He could still make a lot of money fighting. I don't think losing to guys as good as Khabib and Islam is indicative of Porier as a fighter at all, except to say he isn't in that upper echelon of elite guys like Khabib is and I think Islam is. So the question becomes is he happy with his earnings/future prospects now, or does he want to keep making that $$$ for a while but probably not be on the main at a huge card anymore?

I was about to write that win or lose we could expect to see another Conor-Dustin fight someday. But actually from Conor's side, he needs that win against Chandler so bad. If he loses against Chandler, where does he go from there? I'm sure there'll still be a lot of sharks circling / vultures circling to get that money fight against him, but then it starts to be more of a Tony Ferguson cautionary tale. Bunch of losses on the way out, not a good look. But if he gets the win, he's back in business.

From Dustin's side, even if he was retired I think he'd come back for that Conor fight. The payday would be too good, and I think he'd be pretty confident about winning it, too.

I'm rooting for Dustin against Islam, but it seems like nobody thinks he can win it. Seems like it will take luck or a fluke for him to win it--outside of catching Islam with a hard punch, what can he do? He goes for the guillotine even when his corner specifically tells him not to. Islam will probably prepare for that, MMA Guru was saying Islam will probably Von Flue choke or arm triangle Dustin out of the guillotine, or even if Dustin just headlocks him.

I think Islam wants to make a statement against Dustin, he wants to make it look easy.

He moved to Colorado & started fighting out of Factory X. He looked like a neutered fighter his last 2 fights. AJ is a small welterweight; he needs to be explosive & unpredictable to compete.

He has avenues to win but they are slim. IMO he needs to start fast and maybe rock Islam and stop a few takedowns. Make Islam know it’s gonna be a dogfight. That’s no easy task though. You aren’t gonna technically beat Islam you are going to have to show you got that dog. This dude been wrestling against the best since he was a child. These dudes lifestyle is fighting that’s all they know is fighting and discipline. Dustin gonna have to make it nasty but staying on his feet is key. Of course if he hits that guilly it will be up there with all time great moments in mma history.

Also I think the ufc will make sure Conor wins that fight against chandler. I think most fights are legit but for instance I think that cowboy fight was a dive. Chandler has the dana white privilege and will take a dive for the company to secure larger paydays and favor with the company in the future. Too much money on the table if Conor wins. A fight with Islam/dustin/leon would be massive payday for the ufc. Thats my conspiracy theory for the day. Haha
