Sorry tried to post the pics. She heard her Chickens and Peacocks raising hell. She saw a small chicken that it had just killed but didn’t notice the snake. Reached to pick up the chick and it struck, her arm was swollen a lot more!

I thought my buddy was going to have a heart attack! She was calm as could be. Her arm got a lot bigger, She said it was 10 x worse than a hornet!

I've never been bitten by a venomous snake but I have wondered if it feels like a much worse insect bite. I'd imagine it's painful as hell.

What's the reason for all the markings on her hand and arm?

That will definitely ruin your day.
I got bit when I was 10. It felt like someone had jabbed a sharp stake into my ankle. Never saw the snake until after it bit me. Got to the hospital and was allergic to the anti venom. Was in ICU for two weeks. Leg swole up so big that the doctors were going to lance it. Had to learn to walk again. And it happened on Friday the 13th!
Prayers to her.

It’s so they can track the progress of the swelling.

I heard a venomous bite feels like sticking your hand on a hot bbq grill…I’ll report back when I eventually get tagged. Caught 3 pygmy rattlers Sunday evening at Apalachicola Nat’l Forest. Searching for Eastern diamondbacks & more pygmies in the Everglades today.

Prayers for her - looks like she’ll be okay!

That sucks.

Tell your friend to add some guineas to their flock.

What kind of snake was it? If you never saw it and couldn't identify what you were bitten by does that mean you can't get the anti venom?

That doesn't really apply in the US. All antivenom for our native venomous snakes is the same. The only exception being the coral snake. They need to know if it was a coral.

They don't need the sake, a picture of it, or anything. Trying to get that can just slow down the response.

I don't know about humans, but I have been told that in dogs, the antivenin doesn't do much. I don't know if that's true, it's what I've heard.

Wife of our deer lease neighbor in Texas was bit by a coral snake. She was rushed to the hospital Seguin and then transported by helicopter to a San Antonio hospital where she was given anti-venom. She had a heart attack after the anti-venom. This was 20 yrs ago and they said it cost them over $150k. She lived thank goodness. Coral snake venom is real bad!
