Advice #1 - comments here are worth spit. Get whatever you want, but for fricks' sake, internet research and test drives.
I had a Durango Citadel. I loved that car. The steering wheel controls and the touch screen layout was great. The Infinity sound system was awesome.
When I totalled it, I started looking for a replacement. I wanted another Durango, but the sound system changed to a Beats by Dre system, and it was about dat BASS. It sucked. The car rattled from the sound which was terrible, so I ended up driving an Explorer and was sold. It has an amazing sound system. That's important me.
The third-row does not get used much as a third row, but, the seats can lay flat, really flat, and provides a really nice large area for hauling stuff. With things like pack and play, suitcases, stroller, and a cooler, the extra space this provides is great. The second row lays down nicely, too, and I have hauled a pallet of grass in it.
Mine is the Explorer Platinum, and the 3.5L Twin-turbo V6 has plenty of throw you back in your seat takeoff when you need it, excellent hauling/towing power, four wheel drive and gets typically around 20-22 mpg.
Mine is a 2017 and has only 52k miles on it (it's our main car, but the wife and I both work from home).

My advice to the OP is to prioritize models in this order:
1. TOYOTA
2. Honda
3. Chevrolet/GMC
4. Ford
5. Hyundai/Kia
Nissan is a wild card. They recently got rid of the CVT in the Pathfinder, but their reputation and resale values have taken a major hit. Their V6 engine and ZF transmission combo (not the CVT) is a solid powertrain though.
If you want a really good deal for a fairly reliable, proven vehicle that's cheap to keep running....this generation of Dodge Durango has been around for 10+ years. You can get it with the HEMI engine with an 8 Speed ZF transmission, which is a decent setup if you don't mind burning a lot of fuel. It's not a Toyota, but it's far better than other Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge products on average. You may have issues after 100,000 miles, but parts are very cheap and plentiful. And they tend to be paired with significant discounts when new.

This is the OT, get an AT4 Yukon XL, Escalade, Lexus LX, etc. Don’t be cramped in mid size SUV with small third row….

The Telluride and Palisade are the same vehicle with different badging, go with Palisade as Hyundai treats Kia like a redheaded stepchild. Explorers are garbage. Lots of issues with the new generation. The Pilot will start to feel like a station wagon very soon after purchase. I had one and hated it soon after we got it. Just boring and rode like crap. Have you considered the new Traverse? Complete redesign, bigger than the other crossovers and a good price point.

We had no real choice but to get a usable third row, but I certainly wouldn't do it if I didn't have to. There are only a handful of real options for usable third row space AND cargo space.
I don't think it's a bad idea to get a 3rd row option SUV when you have kids, but you don't really need one and you'll find you're going to cram 3 in the second row way more often than sending someone to the 3rd.

Get a minivan and enjoy life rather than making life more difficult just because you have some sort of complex about what other people think of you and what you drive.

You may not want to hear it, but this is the answer for traveling with a kid and adults.
Those smaller SUVs can't generally sit adults on the 3rd row. For that, you want an Expedition or a Tahoe. Nice minivans are about what you'd pay for a slightly used Tahoe or Expe.
ETA: I'm not a Chrysler fan, but the middle seats folding into the floor gives you tons of flexibility. Had a Caravan, and it rattled all to shite after about 2 years. It did last me to 110K miles though. However, I think the next one will be a Honda.
ETA2: I said bigger SUVs for 3rd row usefulness...yeah, scratch the Armada and Inifiti QX80 off that list. Can't get an average sized adult back there on those.

And you really can't go wrong with any of them. Chrysler, Honda, Toyota and even Kia/Hyundai have good minivans. Sliding doors just make life better with kids. Usable 3rd row seating and you can still pack a small cabin in the back somehow.

Growing up my parents had an ext cab Chevy pickup with bench seats. Rode that rear bench seat 14 hours to Florida vacation many times. Parents up front me and my sister in the back
