All the hate about Hi-Point pistols

The keep a pistol in my truck/ vehicle thread made me think of my "trash" guns. Don't be a dumbass and stow a firearm in your vehicle. I always chuckle at posts where "my gun was stolen from my truck"
Anyway...Have any of you every shot one?
Back when I was a young buck I bought a used C-9 for $100 and have kept it to this day. I have shot it no less than 500 times no issues. It was submerged in a flood of my apt at the time, I cleaned it days later not really hoping for much. It still went bang and has ever since.
The pistol is blocky as frick, looks like a piece made for a ship, and could be a boat anchor for weight.
I say all this because I was so excited about my new Canik TP9SFX. It was nothing but a fricking nightmare out of the box. FTF, FTE
Is the C-9 something I would trust my life with? Probably. Don't knock it until you try it. Shoot one and your opinion might change

I had to do it. Sorry.
Nope never shot one.
I would opt to wait for clearances on the BLEM Dagger frames at $50 with the slide/barrel combos at $190. I believe that's a $60 overage on the HiPoints today if you see them at $180 at Academy.

I’ve used a Hi-point 45 as my swamp pistol for the last 10 years or so. I’ve never had a misfire.

I had a Hi-Point .45 Carbine. It couldn't go through a 10 round magazine without a FTF. lol
I promptly sold it

They use a blowback design instead of the modern locked breach design.
quote:
Instead of locking the slide to the barrel, the Hi-Point’s breechface is held against the cartridge head using nothing but spring pressure, relying mainly on inertia to keep the breech closed long enough for the bullet to head downrange.
Normally seen in older sub-machinegun designs, this blowback system requires a comparatively heavy slide in order to provide enough resistance to the force generated by a 9mm Luger round.
I actually read an article about the inventor of the Hi-Point, Tom Deeb.
He grew up in poverty and wanted to create a cheap firearm that any American could afford in order to protect their homes.

I tried to kill myself with a hi-point once, but I killed the Mexican lawn guy instead.
The DA is still looking at the case.
I think I have a case to sue Hi- point, my yard looks like crap now
Really though, I've only shot 1 Hi- point pistol before, it was a .380. I dumped a mag and it didn't jam.

I have shot one but don’t own one and probably won’t ever just because I’m a snob.
Buddy had one he kept on his commercial fishing boat with the intent of if it broke or rusted it was cheap. That sucker shot every time we pulled the trigger on it.
One trick about it was it had to be shot sideways and held up almost head high!!!

I have one that stays in the boat. It’s heavy, it has the profile of a masonry brick, the sights suck, the grip sucks, and the recoil sucks for a full size gun. I pretty much never clean it and will only put a little fishing reel oil on it every one in a while. But it goes bang every time.
I do only use ball ammo in it though. The only time I ever had an issue was when it was new and I tried to use HST.

I don’t keep my gun in my truck for this reason. Someone is out stealing shite out of cars. They break into your vehicle. They find your gun. Now you have an armed robber who can come into your house and shoot your stupid arse with your own gun.

Take yours in, I'll leave mine. You act like no home has ever been burglarized. And newsflash: the assailant was already armed. There isn't a shortage of weapons for criminals.

I've always considered Hi-Pernt's to be $100 hammers

How can you know that? If you LEAVE A GUN IN YOUR VEHICLE. You have a low iq and you deserve whatever happens. Wether it gets stolen or they use it against you. You’re probably one of those guys who purchases a lot of guns but most of them have never been fired.

How naive must you be to think that a criminal, actively breaking into vehicles for guns.....doesn't have a gun?
It's telling that your response to me is that I "deserve" whatever happens to me. You should think about that buddy. I'll carry and protect my family how I see fit, and I hope others do the same. I would never leave a gun in an unlocked vehicle, not because of criminals but because of kids. I will not be intimidated to limit my own outcomes from fear of criminals, or people like you.

I don't know what you're trying to accomplish here.
screw you for making hundreds of assumptions about draggin..
I leave a gun in my truck when I'm at work. It's in a guarded parking garage and in a console safe. At my house I park in my garage.
Am I doing the wrong thing? No, shut up.

“Yeet,” according to the dictionary, means to throw, often forcefully and without care for the object being thrown. It has been adopted by younger shooters as a term for firearms that are affordable and fun to shoot. And this has led to the term Yeet Cannon: “a common term for describing a large bore firearm with little in the way of a practical function.” But the Hi-Point YC9, or Yeet Cannon 9mm, isn’t just amusingly named. It also offers some serious value for both new and experienced shooters.

I've never owned nor shot a Hi-point but after the torture test that Demolition Ranch did to those he had, I would have less issue owning one.
Still wouldn't buy one personally.
but wouldn't sell it if it was given to me
