Uhhh, if you think this then you must think everyone except maybe 5 players in the league is a negative asset…
Trae is historically bad on defense and is a locker room cancer.
If he has to play within an offense (Which he refuses to do, see above comment about being a cancer), his offensive stats would go way down.
He's on a fricking super max.

Maybe not a full on negative contract because he HAS won at a point, but he doesn’t strike me as a huge positive asset.
And, again, depending on how you value Jones, that's like 5-6 1sts going out for that "not a huge positive asset" and WCJ
*ETA: also ignoring the value of BI/CJ

CJ for Beef Stew and 4 2nds = fair
BI for Suggs and WCJ= fair, maybe slight overpay on Pels side, but nothing egregious
Herb and Nance along with picks for Trae is fair also IMO, but if it takes less picks it takes less picks
I also feel like alot of you don’t realize how good Suggs is as a player and are stuck on his rookie season, he’s nearly a Herb clone

I don’t want to send out BI plus pay several firsts for the right to have a fricking dwarf kill our team chemistry and shoot us out of winnable games.
If I want that to happen, Westbrick is available for much less.

Honestly a guy being bad on defense is the least of my worries. Willie gets the best out of his guys defensively. The issue has always been offensive production and perimeter shooting

And crunch time sets which Trae is also good at. He would basically fix all the offensive issues people have been complaining about all season, and be a P&R monster with Zion, but people see his size and automatically think he’s trash

When you can’t guard anyone, you live and die by your offensive production.
When you are on, it counters the liabilities.
When you are off, it is fricking horrible.

And when you’re on you carry a team to the ECF even though you’re the focus of the other teams defense
He would have FAR less attention here playing with Z than he gets in Atlanta, so one only can assume his offense would become even better and he would likely lead the league in assists here.
It’s also a good bonus that he and Zion are friends

ECF once and has been floundering ever since despite all the assets throwing into going all-in.
Posted on 5/12/24 at 12:17 pm to teke184
All the assets?
They traded for Murray, and gave up everything they had for him. That’s it, that’s all the assets they threw at that team.

Maybe both just aren’t that big of a contributor to winning. People dog Trae but love Murray yet Murray hasn’t done any sort of winning in his career.

Ball hogging iso hero ball and bad shots doesn't fix anything.
We're trying to get away from that.

No people see him play and realize who he is.
He's not trash, but he's not a starter on a top-4 seed in the West

That happened once and it's clear it was an outlier event.
ATL teams other than that one magical run are 50/50 to make the playoffs in the shitty East.

This isn't even true, b/c he'll demand to hold the ball every possession
He's also, literally, historically bad on defense.

Ball hogging
30.4 usage rate
Last season Ingram was 30.7
So this narrative is false

iso hero ball
What if I told you his ISO percentage is less than Dejounte Murray? In fact Young is not even in the top 30 in ISO frequency, so again another false narrative.
quote:
and bad shots
His career true shooting percentage is 2 percent higher than Ingram, so again, false narrative

We are trying to move on from that sort of guy. Like, we are specifically trying to not have that guy be our #2

What a random digression. Where ITT did I propose we overpay for Murray?
quote:
His career true shooting percentage is 2 percent higher than Ingram,
You're all over the place.

My buddy had this one
Ingram, Nance, Dyson, and a top 8 protected 2025 1st.
I think that's a pretty strong offer to Cleveland.
For garland/allen

I think it will take a few more 1sts, but I just don't see CLE dealing Garland, especially with Mitchell likely forcing his way out this offseason.
I would love me some Garland, though.

I agree with this take. I don't think Garland can be traded for with Mitchell probably leaving. I wouldn't hesitate that trade though.
