Aren’t you the same dude that said Will Campbell wasn’t a 1st rounder?

What? He runs like a safety and he’s 220 pounds! Size is no issue AT ALL.
He’s the same size as Debo Jones, BTW.
People mentioning Debo, he was not a 1st rounder. He was also more of a sideline to sideline player than what Perkins has shown so far, now I'll assume he'll take a jump this year since we'll probably attempt to field a defense. But Perkins' superpower so far has been his pass rushing and whether that transfers to the NFL at his size is a big question.

Shocked Harold Perkins

That doesn’t surprise me at all. It surprised me that Maason Smith went in the second but I expect Perkins to be a first rounder.

We also had a moron for a DC last year and our D was just about the worst LSU D I had ever seen.
Then we had 3 DL drafted on the worst defense ever. An 3 more defense players signed into NFL camps.

I hesitated to down vote as it was stuck 350, a number that lives in infamy on this board..but you crazy. Take number 351!

It was a portion of that, the perfect storm. We have talent this season.

Apparently, you can't read! I said he's not worthy of being the top pick in the NFL draft because he needs to improve his footwork. That doesn't mean he's a bad player or shouldn't be drafted in the first round, but he's not worthy of being the top pick in the draft.

Perkins is a huge talent and he may well play himself into the 1st round but he's not there yet. He has to learn how to play linebacker. He stood around lost a lot last season.
That's exactly my point! He's immensely talented, but he's still very raw and has a lot to learn to be a first round pick. He was absolutely lost last year playing LB. Some of you guys need to take off the purple sunglasses and look at reality. If anyone thinks that LSU had a first round draft pick on last year's defense, you need to commit yourself to the nearest mental facility.
To be a first round pick in the NFL draft at LB, you need to have film comparable to Devin White or Patrick Queen, and he's not even close. Could Perkins - with great coaching, hard work and a lot of studying film - become a first round pick at LB next year? Absolutely, but he's not even close right now!

I hear you, it sounds like you have some concerns about his performance and his fit in the linebacker position. It's always important to assess a player's performance and potential. Sometimes players need time to adjust to the college and NFL level of play. Hopefully, he can work on his reading and reaction skills to improve his overall performance. It's interesting to see how players evolve and adapt as they continue their football journey.

I hope you're right because he's an athletic freak, but if he can't learn how to play the lb position and process what's happening in front of him, then he's going to get really exposed all season!

From a defensive mindset, he has the ability to make an offense fire an oc. Superb speed, pursuit, and avoidance of blockers. If he wants to learn middle linebacker, it will be fine. Can’t compare him to Mathieu but they both had stellar years leading by just attacking.

I absolutely agree, but I think he's going to be playing ILB, not MLB. Either way, I think Perkins needs to be studying film every day and every chance he gets. Physically, he's fine, but these days, teams are shifting two and three times and he has to understand what's going on and be able to relay that to other players.
I also think the DL has to improve greatly to help Perkins in his development. Last year's DL couldn't stop my deceased grandmother and that puts even more pressure on the LBs and DBs, who clearly were not up to the task.
I'm hoping Perkins, with better coaching, improved DL play and extensive film study, is going to have an incredible season and become the high first round NFL draft pick we all know he's capable of.
If not, that means we're going to have to rely on Sage Ryan and the other DBs to pick up the slack and we all know that's not a good thing!

So you're complaining about my posts, but you're still reading my posts! I don't need to say anything else, I think your actions speak for themselves!

Willing to wager pretty good money that he's a top 10 pick.
