I completely agree, which is why i said we are probably being a little too hard on CJ.
But don't sit here and try to convince anyone that he's an average league defender, unless the average league defender sucks. CJ has never been a good defender, and that is well known. I'll give it to him that he gives the effort, but he's just not physically a good defender, and he seems to forget the defensive strategies we want to play with. That doesn't have anythign to do with not playign with Zion.

Of course. Never been a good defender /=/ god awful like that spaghetti fool espoused. CJ is decent enough to warrant his role and it's not even a question.

He really doesn't. He'll be like the 45th highest paid player this year after some extensions for other guys.

I know more ball than you, son. I don’t need some fancy random arse defensive rating to justify my point. I watched the games all year and I watched CJ get hunted and scored on at will all season and then I watched him completely shrink in the playoffs and do absolutely nothing. Game 1 on the line dude loses his dribble. He is a poor man’s Malik Monk. If y’all are fine with barely reaching the playoffs and then getting swept immediately then yes CJ is our guy. Extend him

End of game 1 vs OKC
Skip to 2:50 and watch what happens. He gets fricking little boyed and then Shai hits the game winning and 1. Bonus: watch the full clip if you want to watch CJ brick multiple wide open 3’s.
Y’all must have the patience of some Saints to still have belief in this dude. Insane

I like CJ, and i think he can without a doubt be a #3 type of player on a championship team.
That being said, i also think Trey can do what he does for us in the starting lineup, and i think Hawkins can do what Trey's been doing off the bench.
CJ is not a PG, and his role off the ball this year as the 3rd guy made him into a super efficient player. If CJ stays on this team, and isn't the PG, then Trey isn't starting, and I have a problem with that.
We have 5 guys in CJ/BI/Trey/Zion/Herb that need to start, and there's only 3 positions for them.

OKC was 26-36 shooting against him in just the first 2 games. That's 72%. I quit looking up the stats after that b/c i didn't care anymore, and i don't feel like looking it up now.
There's no defending that stat, and no one else on the team was anywhere near that.
CJ wasn't even guarding SGA, yet SGA was getting more shots up on CJ than he was on Herb.
and you didnt' need to see these stats to know he was terrible on defense in those two games. If you watched the games it was clear as day he was being hunted and wasn't doing anything well defensively.
and i've said it before, it's fine if he's going to be shitty on defense as long as he's putting up 25+ points. But you can't be shitty on both sides of the court.

I’ve been screaming for a while Trey needs to be in the lineup over CJ but I’m not sure if we’ll see what obviously needs to be done even in 2024-2025. This year was such a waste with the timing of the Zion injury, we pushed our draft pick back and didn’t develop Hawkins at all. 10 minutes per game post ASB. Clown franchise going to make clown franchise decisions. That’s what’s so baffling to me, Teddy. How does CJ see 40 minutes a game with how terrible of a defender he is, but Green can’t find real minutes for Hawkins? It’s no coincidence dude’s 3 pt % plummeted when he started coming in for 5 minutes a game to see if he could provide a “spark.” Yeah, giving our rookie the shortest of leashes should inspire confidence in his game. Malfeasance

What the frick are you smoking man? Malik shot 35% from 3 this year and is not even close to the offensive player cj is. What makes CJ a poorer version of malik monk? Just stop bullshitting the board with this crap.

CJ was the main reason we got swept. Definitely not Zion being out, definitely not ingram coming back from injury playing like shite. Its all on cj because he had a bad series.
I can't wait for your next whack arse take.

It's why the Ingram for trae young trade is the most likely answer. Trey isn't a pg either but the team needs one outside of Zion. Ingram cant do it either, and a team that has to surround its star with 3pt shooters would greatly benefit from CJ and Trey being able to both be on the court at the same time.
Remember the Warriors game 3pt contest Trey and CJ had with no Ingram mucking up the offense? THATS the shite we need.

From a son to an old man. I've grown so much.
CJ slander will not be tolerated by me kiddo. He's played too much good ball for us.

Oh no. I don't believe that. If Zion plays, we take at least two off them. Losing Zion swung the series.
McCollum played bad. But so did a few other players. I wouldn't put it on him. Zion makes everyone better..

45/30=1.5
So, he's a 3rd option paid like an option 1B.

You are an unwise old man. Enabling me to son an old man. I didn’t think you could interpret. I have been proven correct again

Cj works when he is getting open 3s off of zion.
When he has to be the point and create it just doesn't go well much of the time.
If you trade Ingram you have to get back another player who can create.

CJ at 30 million isn’t bad at all. Each year the cap rises. You’re not going to find many players at that caliber for that price. Paying Ingram the max will cripple this franchise though.
I wish Mile Bridges wasn’t such a garbage human being because he would be a great piece to a team at his price. Malik Monk is another free agent I be eying if the price is right too.

Speaking of, he called me a bunch of names and told me last year's playoff Rui would be the norm and he would play like that in future postseasons. Did he? Did Rui play well and have all time great scoring efficiency this postseason? Just curious
