lol they’re world class athletes I’m sure most played multiple sports. Instead of this tough guy bullshite where you point out my namesake as one of the guys who couldn’t do it (no shite), I say we try to name 30 on each side who can do it.
Westbrook
LeBron
……
I’m having a hard time picking an NFL player other than Tony. Randy and TO played semi pro in the offseason but that’s a big jump.

None from either league could play or withstand a full season of NHL.

"short" guys in the NBA are like 6'3" and taller (obviously some shorter exceptions). They are going to be pretty limited by body type to WR and TE. Maybe a few edge rushers or over sized S/OLB hybrid types.
But there are diminishing returns on height in football for most positions and NBA players are too light for OL/DT.

I suggest you look at the height of middle linebackers in the NFL. Regardless I think there are plenty of Kam Chancellor body types playing 3 and D right now. Those dudes are bigger than you think.

With today’s specialization, this is more than likely true. High school basketball players have to be in the air conditioned gym 365 days a year. No time for other sports.

He's 6'4" without shoes. That would be a tall fricking safety.
He'd be absolutely electric at WR. He's one of the best pure athletes in a long time.

He's not wrong.
None of them would make it a full season. A study related an NFL game to a car wreck. Which is why a lot of players hate Thursday games.
NBA bodies are acclimated to football's toll.

Very few, if any, have the size/power and lateral speed to even attempt to play NFL linebacker

But he moves better than almost all the safeties regardless of that height. Him on a mid read coming downhill would be nasty.

You think any NFL player could play 35 a night for 70/82 games? They get a minute to dick around between each play.
Posted on 5/7/24 at 3:38 pm to Gordon Hayward
I just wanna throw the fade to wemby. That has to be automatic, right?
Posted on 5/7/24 at 3:40 pm to Gordon Hayward
I think prime versions of Westbrook, Lebron, Ant, and a few others could do well at lesser contact positions like WR or TE without a ton of blocking responsibilities. The real freaks.

Football you have as much free time in a game like MLB. Play a down, wait 30 secs, play a down, 30 secs, rinse repeat, punt sit for 3-7 minutes of quarter, 30-49 mins and then come back on the field
So the frick what?? That doesn’t mean they can compete against freak athletes who have been working endlessly on their craft for decades. That’s crazy talk man

That’s cute and all, but what about all the other plays that get ran
I’d like to see some of these nba guys tackle Derrick Henry or another stud RB. This conversation would be over

I didn't say they could. Neither could cross over and play meaningfully.

If you've ever watched NBA players do anything outside of basketball, they are the least athletic group in professional sports. Watch them try to throw a baseball, throw a punch, or swing a club or bat. It's laughable. Hell, half of them aren't all that good at basketball skills
to be fair, football players are largely the same way. I took tennis as a PE class in college and had a bunch of football players in it. It was pitiful how unathletic they looked trying to do something other than football. Most were terrible at basketball too, they could just jump high.

Three hall of fame football players (or ones who will go in once they are eligible) were role player college basketball players, and in one case, a star who never even played football.
There is also a multiple time pro bowler who played football as an afterthought when he knew he wasn’t NBA material.

Also, didn’t chip Kelly once say that his ideal quarter back is Rajon Rando?

Sounds dumb. I’m not surprised Austin Rivers said it.
