The Weber kettle is an icon for a reason. Easy to use, cheap and makes great food.
Absolutely.
If you are not going to do a brisket, then anything else is easily done on a Weber Kettle. Brisket would be a giant PITA, but otherwise, if you like flexibility and aren't a fan of gas, the Kettle is the answer.
I have a small PitBoss, but never use it for anything other than smoking butts, briskets, and larger quantities of ribs/chicken 1/4s.
If I am just cooking for me and the wife, I prefer the Kettle for smoking or grilling.

My wife surprised me with this one, and had Home Depot assemble and deliver it. Of course, they jacked it up by crossthreading some screws and didn't put the right side shelf on. I emailed customer service, got a case number, and waited.....to no response. After about 10 days (on the advice of a Facebook group) I sent them a Facebook message. They asked if I had a case number, and I sent it. 2 days later they shipped all the new parts, no questions asked. Try their social media, it's apparently way more responsive than an email.

I'm considering a Weber Kettle also. Do steaks, chickens, burgers, sausage and ribs taste better on it than on a good pellet grill? I'm also considering the new Weber Searwood Pellet Grill, but it costs several times more. It seems like a heavy solid grill, easy to use and clean, will sear meats, and with WiFi and probes, etc. But if the food won't taste quite as good on it, then it's a no brainer to go with the Weber Kettle. I'm switching from a natural gas grill. Before that I had a cast aluminum charcoal grill. Charcoal was definitely better taste wise compared to gas. I've never had a pellet grill yet, so I am trying to decide if I should try one. My gut feeling is to get the Weber Kettle as I know I can cook great food on one.

PK portable grill. Will last several lifetimes. I have mine, my grandpa's and my dad's.

I’m all about the Argentinian grilling experience. I don’t mind that it takes longer. I need rectangular space. My wife is Persian so kabobs optimize space on a rectangular grill. I love burning real wood and moving the coals around in all that space. But it does mean I need a separate smoker. I’m going to be buying an insert like this and dropping it into stone setup I will build.

Weber Kettle. Bought it in 2019 from Lowe’s and can’t believe how much it was for how good of a grill it is. They have upped the price on it since then but it’s still worth every penny.
Get the copper one if they have it!

Look, the drive thru is really picking up right now so I can't really chat about this shite, but later we're gonna talk about how to maximize a weber.
I'll be back.

See the above post.
Charcoal alone or charcoal and wood combined taste better than pellets alone. The Spider Venom gives you that, and the cooking and ease of use benefits of a pellet grill.

I'm a huge fan of my Big Green Egg. I've used the crap out of that thing.

Wow, fantastic post. Thank you. But that turns a $100 Weber into a $600 green egg without the ceramic shell

Those are cool and I'd like to have one but they just don't accessorize the way a Weber does.
One thing no one has brought up yet is the 26in Weber Kettle. Those are worth a look too.

Of course this is my opinion, and we all know about those...
I think charcoal tastes better for grilling than what you can get with the pellet grill, plus the pellet grill always seems to have hot/cold spots due to their design. You can control high heat better and keep it even on the kettle with charcoal, and you can move all the coals to one side for direct/indirect cooking if needed. Like I said, I have both, and I only use my pellet grill for long smoking cooks. They both have their uses and I like having both, but if forced to choose only one, I would probably go with the kettle.

Weber kettle
Bought a new one two weeks ago. I grill a lot and like to use charcoal but my old kettle was I think around 12 years old and was being held together with wire. I’m actually surprised that it never collapsed when I was brushing the grill. Can’t go wrong with a Weber kettle
