Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning:

"To say that the Georgia Tech fans are excited would be an understatement. They have bought up every ticket in sight and ready to take on the defending national champions. I want to see if LSU, whose defense has had problems all season, is going to step up and take this game seriously. If they aren't ready to play, Georgia Tech will (literally) run them out of the Dome."

This could get VERY ugly if we play like we've played all season.

We'll see if the defending national champions have any heart. They didn't show any the last half of the year. I hope that they see this a springboard to next year and focus. They have the talent to win, but do they have the discipline?

I am not optimistic.

My response to a previous post:

LSU is in a serious transition mode. For the most part, the entire defensive staff is moving on. Fan support for this Bowl and match-up is essentially non-existent. To quote Chris Warner it comes down to the program being in a "National Championship Hangover". I basically agree with you. This is a home game for Georgia Tech who will outnumber LSU fans well over the 5 digit mark. It's LSU against themselves and the world and that's a bad scenario for a true freshman QB on his 2nd start. LSU will play hard and with pride, but mistakes and the triple option will do them in. The game will be a microcosim of this miserable season.

Bring on the announcement of our new D.C. and National Signing Day with Russell Shepard, and hopefully, Rueben Randle committing. IMO it appers that this is infinately more important to the majority of LSU fans than the outcome of the Chick-Fil-A bowl.

Seriously:

Historically when the Tigers are doubted and backed in a corner, they have come out pissed, focused, and dangerous. They typically deliver the knock out punch.

I expect no less from this team. If they don't compete, I will be disappointed.

Funny, but your description of the Georgia Dome sounds exactly like the SEC CG last year when it was a sea of Orange and they outnumbered us with about 75% or more of the stadium Orange and we ticked off a ton of people in that stadium.

We are Definitely not the same team, but there is heart on that team and coaching staff and I hope that they play hard, show up, and reveal to the country that being unranked after taking the then #1 team in Alabama to overtime before losing means we're a heck of a lot better than the polls show, and........

After a convincing win over a one dimensional team, we'll shut up the critics, and there'll be a bandwagon full of people claiming to have said I told you so. Bull. Very few people still believe, but I DO!

GT is overrated, and we're underrated, it should be a great game.

Interesting that their fans are interested in attending a football game in Atlanta. They seem to never fill up Dodd Stadium for the regular games. Every home game I watch of their's if the seats aren't empty they are filled with visiting team fans. I realize they have a small stadium and don't compete on total attendance, but this shows they barely crack the top 60 in terms of percent of stadium capacity filled in 2008 when they are having a great year. So, I guess it's the Tigers who are drawing their fans and not their own team.

LSU is a very good football team. Jordan Jefferson must play the whole game and he will do well, he is the new Rohan Davey. When LSU offense does well, the defense does well.

GA Tech will most definitely NOT run LSU out of the stadium. We may pass them out....

Seriously, I expect a very hard-fought close game. I do agree that LSU is under rated, but it's because they just haven't played well for much of the season. They are better than they've shown. Ironically, we opened the season against Perriloux, and will end it against LSU. I'm just glad they weren't in the same game!

But LSU is still defending national champs, and pride rises up at some point. My concern is it will rise up in the GA Dome.

That said, we have far more talent than most who don't follow the GA Tech program realize. Still we are at a deficit relative to LSU.

I expect a great game, and have no idea who will win.

AJC: "Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson plans to use some of the extra practice time before the New Year’s Eve Chick-fil-A Bowl to work on the passing game, specifically Run ‘n’ Shoot elements."

Could be interesting...

The technique of our DE's has been poor for a couple of years now (even with Pelini). They dont get up the field. That is going to hurt us against the option. See our recent performances against the "wild hog"

However, I do believe that we will play with heart and approach this game as a shot at redemption for a poor year. Also, several players (RJF, TJ, Favorite, Alexander, Pittman, etc.) need to show well to improve their draft status.

Hopefully we are installing some new alignments and stunts. If we try to play our base defense and think we are just going to play "assignment" football, I dont think we will win.

That, and the offense needs to score early, and keep scoring. They cant get conservative if we get a lead.

Looked like Georgia's defense wasn't ready. Just wondering if we will get our assignments right. Lot of blown coverage this year. Now with the most of the defensive coaching staff having one foot out the door. Glad we have coaching changes on the way. But are we going to be ready for this game?

Then again, if we don't throw picks and keep our offense on the field...

We lost to a rebuilding Ark, Ole Miss, Bama and almost to Troy. I don't think anyone is pussified for thinking we're going to lose.

Amen to that. Makes me wanna after reading some of the garbage that's being posted....

ETA: Being pessimistic about a matchup is one thing......acting like your team is the worst it has fielded in the history of the program is horrible. In my opinion, this type of behavior is more embarrassing than this past season....

yeah so say getting blown out at home by ole miss who didnt win a conference game last year and arkansas who wasn't predicted to have a conference win this year. this group has proved time and time again that it has no heart. hate to break it to you rantards but the bama was our custards last stand.
