Why would you move your best OL from the spot he’s excelled at and become a top 5 C at just because Ruiz played C in college
It's because Ruiz is so poor that he assumes Ruiz playing center and McCoy playing guard would have to be an upgrade.

Guys on the radio don’t think Peat is getting resigned. It’s gonna be Penning again at LT.
Guess they knew what they were talking about.

never thought i'd say this about project peat, but i'm surprised he wasn't brought back with the huge ? penning is and lack of depth in general on the line.

I don`t know who is good or bad but I remember players the fans thought
were busts turned out to be good players after 3 years of experience.
To think a college kid can come in and line up against the best football
players in the world right off the bat is unrealistic in my opinion.A very small
% of players can do it right away, especially on OL.

i think the worry with penning is more around the fact that he completely vanished last season. they weren't even trying to trot him out there after the beginning of the season.

I actually love Ruiz at C.
What is all of this talk about moving Ruiz to center and McCoy to guard? Have the Saints talked about doing that? Is McCoy so bad at center? Where is this coming from?

We are in the dead zone.

It’s not coming from anywhere because it’s not going to happen. McCoy is excellent. Ruiz had a strong 2022, took a step back in 2023, but he’s still your RG until further notice.

We needed Peat to play LT … at least for another year….. or 5 games until he was lost for the season with in-grown toenail.

I see your point but if he's top 5 that's a very poor reflection on the league's center position. Erik is way overvalued by Saints fans imo.

Apparently fuaga is taking all his reps as LT at Minicamp. Heeeere we go

With no known starter at LT no one should be surprised. Who is the LT for the 1st pre season game is what matters. If we stand pat without a trade during camp perhaps the oline will be better than we thought.

They’re just evaluating him because they know he can play RT already

What are the Saints immediate plans for Fuaga?by goatmilker
Gonna go out on a limb and say RT.

All the noise about Ruiz to C is 2 things:
1) Ruiz was drafted as a C, and I think McCoy was drafted s as a G. Everyone thought the Saints would move McCoy to G when they drafted Ruiz, but they didn’t partly bc that offseason was shortened due to COVID (possibly also it was never really their intent).
2) The other part is that Ruiz hasn’t been great at G, so maybe C is his best position and McCoy is athletic enough to play G so it’s best for the team as a whole.
I’ve thought Ruiz played well at C when McCoy has come out of the game in the post, but I don’t expect them to actually move Ruiz to C. McCoy is a known commodity at C, so I doubt they take that chance.

I'm excited about this signing, he's nasty and is also a leader.
