How can you pull this kid already. He did nothing wrong. Your stupid shift is why it's 3-0..geez

The ‘shift’ does not work in college baseball.

How? He has zero movement on his FB and can’t be trusted to pitch to the shift
Posted on 4/28/24 at 1:17 pm to CarriereTiger
My thought exactly. If the SS had been in his normal position, the inning would have been over a couple batters ago.

The shift works more times than it doesn’t. The numbers prove it. People just don’t notice it when it works.

When he gets down 2-0 and they know exactly what is coming, especially with the bases loaded, you have to abandon the shift.

too much contact unfortunately

Shift telegraphs where you’re locating pitches. It’s stupid at this level.

The shift works when the pitcher hits his spots.

We need to give the Shift some Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

Shifts are based on percentages of where that particular player hits not pitch location
Posted on 4/28/24 at 1:26 pm to Cannon856
And you’re trying to take those tendencies and make them as close to an absolute as possible by locating pitches to induce that %.

Both of the pitches were inside and the batter was late and cued it the other way
Posted on 4/28/24 at 1:28 pm to DBG
Yap. Both were fooled & inside outted the ball for weak contact

So cheating on the percentages and leaving a big hole open in that gamble backfired. Another reason you shouldn’t do it,

That’s not “cheating on the percentages”

MLB should take note. This is how you stop the shift.

That’s exactly what it is
No, it isn’t.

What do you think a shift is? You’re moving people out of position or “cheating over”.
