I was born in 83 (so "within a few years" of you) and literally nobody I know did this
Ok perhaps I should have said within a few years going down instead of up. As a 9/10 year old I can see you being juuuuust a bit too old for it I guess.

I have literally never heard of one person I know watching this movie with their family, let along regular
that's just almost hard to believe. Not saying you're wrong obviously because i don't know your life, just seems odd.

I actually remember the first time I ever saw it because it was at a house my dad was working on with some kids I didn't know, and one of them replied "he's not a virgin anymore because they slept together" when the 2 leads woke up, and I went, "Actually, sleeping together means" and the mom flipped out and ran into the room.
so perhaps you're correct
*ETA: but I have friends with younger siblings and none of them watched/celebrated this movie annually

It was just a kids horror movie, like Ernest Scared Stupid] (and neither were particularly good).

quote:For someone born in the early 90s I agree with your post except for A Goofy Movie. Everyone I knew at that time was obsessed with A Goofy Movie. The others are solid movies but weren't cult classics for my school grade.
I guess I’m technically more of an 80s kid (born in ‘79), so a good bit of those movies are a no for me.
Hocus Pocus
Casper
Goofy Movie
Parent Trap
Matilda

It's almost like everyone is forgetting there is another species on this planet, you know, the female one. They got to have some movies in a list.

11. The Sandlot (1993)
Although some very good movies ahead of it, this at 11 is a travesty.

Dropping into say I watched this a few weeks ago (on Paramount+) and it held up, which shocked me. It was very adult and dark for a kids movie.
i was 8 then. we didn't have cable and i didn't watch much TV at all. just reruns of cartoons before school and saturday mornings. As a kid with a dozen TMNT toys, I had no idea this movie was coming out.
One day dad told me to get ready to go out and he took me to it.total shock.
then we went as a family Friday night. then my grandparents took me to it.
then my cousin came in town for a visit and went again.
fond fond memories of this and it definitly holds up.

Toy Story far too high
No way. Toy Story definitely has an argument of being #1. Mrs. Doubtfire is the most overrated on the list imo. I was born in 86, so all of these are right up my alley. I feel like Mrs. Doubtfire was popular with all of my friends, but not THAT popular. Toyy Story had a legit buzz (no pun intended) around it. Like you had to see it. And it has aged like fine wine as well.
