Agreed. Any of these SUV's can be called trucks:

Suburban/Blazer/Tahoe/Yukon/Yukon XL/Avalanche/Escalade
Expedition/Excursion
70's/80's/90's Bronco
90's Explorer
80's/90's Bronco
80's/90's Ramcharger

This. My wife called her GMC Acadia a truck once and I had to correct her.
No, this is a minivan with larger tires.

In Louisiana if your license plate has 6 characters 3 letters/3 numbers it is a car. If it has 7 characters 1 letter 6 numbers you can call it a truck.

This doesn’t take into account specialty plates.

some suvs fit the definition of a truck.

Now a pickup truck has a different meaning.

Guy I work with saw my Wife's Traverse once when I had to drive it for some reason and thought it was hilarious that I was driving a "van".

Never heard the SUV/truck switch though.

In all fairness some are based on truck platforms. IMO, that’s good.

I was about to say the same thing. I have a 98 Cherokee and a 00 Wrangler. Both have “passenger vehicle” tags. All my “trucks” have truck tags. Just the way Louisiana does it.

I agree with this stole valor comment.
But its also applies to SUV's...most are nothing but a
dressed up minivan or station wagon.

SUV's --Explorer, Tahoe, 4runner...can it tow a medium size load / boat then I think of it as SUV.
Not SUV's-- SantaFe , CX-5, or any unibody bs with a 4cyc for a motor.

Might be a good vehicle but not a a true suv. Just like the AF is not military branch.
