How often should I be replacing the line on my reels?
And, some fishing-related gifs for your view of the post:

I was taught to replace fishing line every year at the beginning of the season usually early spring so I do.
After every trip I run my fingers down the first 10 yards or so and if I feel a burr I cut it off and retie.

I have 15lb Power Pro Super 8 Slick V2 on all of my inshore reels and I've had the same line on some of those reels for 3 years. The line has faded, but I haven't had an issue of the line breaking under load. I usually replace the line when I've had to cut out so many wind knots from my wife, daughter, or guest fisherman, that I'm more concerned with line capacity than I am with line strength. I usually change out my mono line every two years, since it costs so much less than braid.

Back when I was using mono I’d put fresh line about once a year. Now that I’ve gone to braid I’ve yet to replace any due to age, some of my reels probably have braid that’s 3+ years old. I’ve yet to break one off due to braid failure.

Replace only when spools get get low from dumbasses tangling line casting over each other or hanging up in trees.
Typically this is once a year on avg but dependent on who’s in boat.

a lot has to do on where you store your spooled reels when not fishing...

I went fishing last weekend with reels that have braid spooled on them for 8 years. The braid outlasts the rods/eyelets.

IT honestly depends on so many factors. That time is every time you use it up to a year or so. Depending on line type, size and who used it where. Storage.
For 25 years,, I kept 25 rods spooled and ready to go for clients. Mix of spinning and casting. I did not use a lot of braid then. Mostly mono and fluro and a combination of the two. Some I had to change after almost every trip and some every few months.
Now Im doing salt water and mostly using braid on my spinners and change it when it's needed due to abuse. My bottom fishing gear is a little different.
When I tournament fished for a living, I was a little more diligent about changing mono out if I used it a lot during the day. Mono is cheap, easy to replace and it gave me something to do during tournament days to ease my mind.
